Woman kicked out of mall for wearing Finding Nemo tank top and shorts

I think rereading the conversation would help since the strong stance was “this is not racism” first made by @quorihunter and @TomFury13 after there were two suggestions that it might have played a factor. The conversation was toward stopping a discussion about race at all, and the discussion was never made that… well I’m honestly not sure what the prevention of a conversation about race is trying to stop.

My stance has never been it is NOT racism…my stance was beyond “a black woman was asked to leave” is there evidence of it being racism? She does not state it was about her race in multiple articles; and reaffirmed the same perspective that she felt slut-shamed. She stated her sister was there as well, yet only she was asked to leave. I find it difficult to determine based on the numerous articles online, and her own account; that it is clearly racism without her having stated it once.

None of any of this is saying we cannot have a discussion about race, racism, and its horrid effects on our society.

But nearly this entire thread has been about race from the very beginning; when by all accounts the issue here is “slut-shaming” and perhaps could have been the topic for discussion.

By the way, just so you know how “skanky” my PS Home avatar was, I happen to have a screenshot:

There’s nothing specifically racist with “bitch”, but in the context, I’m highly suspicious.

The 200 posts of argument regarding racism that aren’t about slut-shaming are a result of people choosing to make the possible role of race into an argument, not the result of the mention of race, which could have been left alone as something to consider, gathering a few likes.

I’m curious how you can possible take anything else from this post:

[quote=“quorihunter, post:24, topic:102644, full:true”]
We have no evidence that it was a racially motivated issue; and she expressly states “slut shaming” as in she was told it was about it being too revealing.

Racial or revealing is utter crap either way; however, let’s not call a diamond a spade.

This is a conversation, not a court of law. This is a conversation of people not related to the guard or the girl sharing their opinions (right or wrong) and not giving testimony. Nothing we say here is going to directly effect the girl or guard. You can share your opinion without insisting everyone else not share their opinion. This thread isn’t about you and you don’t need to make it about you. Just share your opinion and skip on going full Hulk. It doesn’t help anything here and isn’t great for your blood pressure. Last thing your kids need is to hear their dad died while trying to shout down the internet. Don’t worry what some random person said here. Give your kids a hug. Enjoy life.

ETA: Not meant to be condescending. I sincerely wish you well. I too have felt the rush of anger and the need to win on the internet. Felt my blood boil. And every time afterward I just felt terrible. As in physically terrible. Poisoned. I did more harm to myself than to who ever I was arguing with.

I thought it was some kind of saying that I am unfamiliar with. I found it strange, since the Dutch are not exactly known for their prudery.

Thank you for helping me to better understand this, I guess it will always be a problem until we’re all just “people”.

We can all do better and I think helping each other to do better helps. But most people would have just doubled down rather than admit that maybe they don’t know.

I guess what I was trying to express, and probably not very well, was that 1) West Michigan has a lot of douche bags who don’t need racism to be a douche bag, they may BE racist but they don’t need that to be one and 2) not every body in West Michigan is a douche bag. But in reading other comments and having conversations with other contributors, I can see how much more complex of an issue it is. I’m an old man and I’ve seen a lot, but I still have a lot to learn …

Seriously, any idea how refreshing that is to hear? We seem to live in an age where literally everyone thinks they know everything and you can’t tell them shit. But ALL of us have a lot to learn about all sorts of things. I wish more people could just admit that “I DON’T KNOW IT ALL”!

I think your humility and willingness to listen and learn are admirable and inspiring. As you may not have heard, saying “not all ______ are like that” gets shouted down pretty quickly in many online places these days. Here’s a partial explanation of why (I’m sure many others exist).
