It’s mostly the latter, but there’s an element of truth to the former, too. In the modern world, you can get away with ignorance and lack of common sense that might have been deadly in the past. (Of course, modern people are mostly okay in heavy traffic, for example, where our ancestors would be overwhelmed.)
