Worst-case scenario places Judith Basin County, Montana as our last redoubt against the virus

Elf sex, yeah, OK, whatever.
Sex death, um, no thanks.
Cult, maybe.

Yeah, it’s the death in there that puts me off, really.

This headline really should have read, “New York Times Ruins Nationwide Hide-And-Seek Game Before It Starts”

Tbh there’s lots of communities that are much less populated and that are typically more self sufficient that they can weather whats going on with more ease. For example the Earthship communities out in the Nevada desert, as well as mormon communities in Nevada/Utah.

For me i’m glad i don’t have kids so taking care of myself has been easy but for those here that are parents my heart goes out to you. My friends that are parents are having a very difficult time with whats going on and some peoples jobs are being assholes about requiring them to come in to work when they dont have childcare, and another friend has a State job and they require her to not have her kids at home if she’s working remotely because they arent paying her to look after her kids, which is just mindblowingly stupid.

Hopefully it doesn’t get to cannibalism (or were you not actually suggesting Edith as a food source?)

I was thinking of Final Fantasy.

Do we eat the chocobos before or after the horses?

This compound is on well water. Be happy it’s not 25 outhouses.

Do hope they’ve got a robust solar array to keep that well pump going, though.

And now all the people fleeing there will bring the virus with them. Self-defeating prophecy.

I’m buying a ranch and starting an anarchist commune there, owned by me!

Weird that they went to all that trouble to calculate things per county and left off Alaska and Hawaii.

I do expect that if things get very bad, if you want to venture very far off the main highways one will face some self organized locals-only checkpoints/roadblocks.

Real anarchists wouldn’t bother with the buying part. We should all just turn up and start squatting.

Or maybe not, I don’t think that the local gun laws would be in our favour.

I just think the scenario is now deprecated/obsolete, because now enough people will flock to it that someone unknowingly carrying the virus will go there thinking it’s safe.
