Sorry, I missed this with all the image macros you use.
Nothing in what I’ve said is defeatist, it’s just how society, countries, borders, cultures, and humans have decided it works.
If anything it’s realist.
If you’ve decided to ignore thousands of years of human behavior for some star trek utopia (that didn’t happen until an extremely bloody eugenics war) then more power to you when and if the government comes to pry your Impact typeface from your cold dead hands.
Yep, we as society have a choice to make everyday. Trump is now president. How’s that societal choice coming?
I’m glad I don’t live in your utterly hopeless dystopian view of reality, then; good for me.
Funny you should mention Star Trek, btw; though that world is fictional, they only achieved that utopian-like society after humanity almost destroyed itself in a series of Eugenics Wars…
(Hint: the whole plot of the Wrath of Khan and the Search for Spock movies boiled down to one main social ideal: that in the end, ‘might’ alone doesn’t make right, as Khan ultimately failed.) Humanity and life itself is more complex and nuanced than that, and saying ‘well, that’s just the way it is!’ is merely a piss poor excuse for being resistant to change.
Did they shout it simultaneously when they did so in 1787? If so I’d love a citation for a dramatic moment in American history that is, at least to me, both new and fascinating.
Peer pressure, Melz2. If everyone concludes a momentous occasion by shouting a motto it’s hard not to join in.
I don’t know, if the marching with guns is done en masse it might not lead to anyone getting shot - I think in cop executions they like to do it more like multiple cops on 1 or maybe 2 black people.
You have repeatedly claimed that private gun ownership is a requirement for preserving a number of rights that exist in many other countries, the vast majority of which do not guarantee a right to private gun ownership.
If anything YOU are the one ignoring how society, countries, borders & cultures work.
I’m white, I used to walk around West Valley Ut. with a sword cane and a sabre and a leather biker jacket and I was never stopped If I were in the U.S I guess I could be a white arbmed liberal escorting BLM about - otherwise I don’t think it would be of any particular use.
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure,” Jefferson wrote in a letter to William S. Smith, a diplomatic official in London, on November 13, 1787”
appears in none of the founding documents - and was written about Shay’s Rebellion when Jefferson safe in Paris. Being Jefferson he also had to cover his ass by saying “founded in ignorance … The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive.” "“absolutely unjustifiable,” about Shay’s. Jefferson was a self serving ass without moral convictions.
Shay’s was one of the reasons we have a Constitution - because a strong federal government was needed to stop violence.
When Jefferson became President - his views on federal power and a standing army miraculously rotated 180 degrees.
It was once before. In 1977 a racist murderer and his cabal staged a boardroom coup and transformed what had been a sporting organisation into the monstrosity we know today. However, I have no doubt that they also put measures in place so that it wouldn’t happen again.
“Colion Noir is a token black spokesperson that the NRA calls upon whenever they need to pretend the organization isn’t disproportionally white and racist.”
