Yaphet Kotto turned down the role of Jean-Luc Picard

He also once punched a polar bear.

You mean those 2 gifs? Yes, it’s both JRM, just one is not a very good gif and makes him look older…

I thought that was one of the Mighty Boosh guys?

Hrm, I dunno if what I said constitutes spoilers, but I hid it anyway.

Yes, Community is a Gem. I came to it too late, but binged it all eventually

Eagle eyed viewers will spot Scud The Disposable Assassin in the courtroom during the GI Joe episode. OMG that one was so good. (Rob Schrab, Scud’s creator, directed that episode IIRC.)

I mean, some time he did.

He was Richard IV in Blackadder

Sadly the game servers have closed, so no one can hear the Brian Blessed VO anymore

He’s so great in Black Adder…

Also, there was a War of the Roses video game? That’s amazing!

If they’d gotten Blessed to shave his head he would have been a great alternate-universe Picard

In real life he sounds more like Picard than Stewart does, and he goes on and on about space travel and how everybody has to go to Mars

Wouldn’t Lance Reddick be great in Star Trek, in almost any role?

He’s not just a member of the Hair Club for Men—he’s also its Captain.

Makes me think of a certain Zachary Smith from an entirely different spaceship

Sadly that’s how I’ve been feeling about Doctor Who since David Tennant finished - I like their casting but…

Hell yeah. Joanna Lumley was awesome, but I think Dawn French could have been really true to the spirit of the show.

And the Dalai Lama (allegedly).

Finally looked up-

Brian Blessed is a totally different actor than this John Rhys-Meyers fellow, who played Henry Tudor.

Musta been some confusion with what you thought I said. All good.

Oh! His facial reactions and voice, priceless, he reminds me of John Rhys-Davies, except more gregarious, goofier, but with the same gentle madness.

Oh those two together would be an incredible show or sitcom, fantastic both in theatre.

Any man that can punch a polar bear in the face as defense is just awesome

Ah! Sorry, yes! I missed you’re meaning. I was trying to find a mad Henry Tudor gif since you said that Brian Blessed should play him and not JRM!

The hazards of online confabs!
