Fun facts about Trump’s newest lawyer challenging the election results in Pennsylvania, Marc Scaringi:

  • Scarinigi is picking up this case after all Trump’s other lawyers in the state officially quit
  • Scarinigi’s own web site refers to Biden as “President-Elect”
  • His site also explicitly states “Joe Biden has successfully claimed the role of the 46th president of the United States.”
  • Scarinigi also has a radio show (because of course he does). On November 7 he told his listeners “in my opinion there really are no bombshells that are about to drop that will derail a Biden presidency, including the lawsuits” and said Trump’s suits “don’t seem to have much evidence.”

Bonus: there’s always a tweet.

Bonus bonus: his Twitter profile pic includes a person in the background holding a sign that says “TRUMP = VANILLA ISIS.”

And the thing is, no matter who investigates, it will be painted as the “deep state” doing it, so if Biden doesn’t do it and leaves it to the NY state attorneys, it doesn’t make us any less divided, just further erodes the norms of our democracy.
This is infuriating.

As long as Biden stays out of the process (as he well should) and doesn’t hand out any pardons then it doesn’t really matter what he thinks about investigating Trump as long as there are competent people at the DOJ.

Reading the whole article I actually find very little to fault Biden with. In my opinion NBC buried the lede:

Biden wants his Justice Department to function independently from the White House, aides said, and Biden isn’t going to tell federal law enforcement officials whom or what to investigate or not to investigate.

To that all I can say is HELL YES.
