I hope this turns out as we…hope. I don’t work in the judicial branch, but as a de facto govt employee these past 10+ years, I’ve seen a definite influence of elected officials on what we do and where our attentions are able to go. During Obama, just him stating something in a speech could lead to months and months of efforts on our parts, focusing time and resources in one way and not another.
So I share the hopes that Biden claiming to be hands off will go how (to most of us here) it should, but his signaling against the investigations is also pretty big. IMHO.
Tl;dr, I agree it’s probably best for Biden to seem “hands off,” but anything he states publicly has big implications when it comes to allocating resources. I hope he’ll say as little as possible, if he really wants independent actions from his DOJ.
Like the only snafu was up in Floyd County, and that was due to having their key officials there in quarantine! But the votes they found that were more for Trump don’t really cut into Biden’s lead nearly enough to do shit about the totals.
Also…
Once again not even bothering with pretense.
Hispanic Protestants are Evangelicals for the most part. Lots of Pentecostals and Prosperity Gospel types who fit in with Il Douche’s white Xtianist supporters despite the latter group’s racism.
It will come as no surprise to anyone that America’s school teachers are not paid enough for this shit.
(TL;DW a teacher gave their third-graders a sheet to fill color in to track election results and the student’s mother is berating the teacher over the phone that the teacher didn’t color it in according to the way OANN called the race)
Ugh, that’s a tough job all right.
More proof that teachers are heroes.

so many interesting related links: there do seem to be some real issues with the voting machines there. only, it was the republicans who setup the machines… and you have to run with the election you’re given.
and note, the votes are recorded in qr codes! so who the heck knows if the computer is correctly printing the same selections in qr as it does in text. if someone hacked the software, i don’t see how’d you’d ever know. [ edit: @anon61221983 corrected me. they keep the ballots, and audits use the text as printed, so those can be compared to the qr counts. as long as they are doing audits… which they are this time. ]
why the heck is it so difficult to standardize on hand filled scantrons with in person digital assistance only for those people who really need it? scantron is easy to understand, easy to machine scan, easy to read by humans, and easy to audit.
( the question is rhetorical. it’s all about the money. )
Sounds like good news, but do you know why they’re still calling for an audit?
As a fig leaf to get the asshole Republicans on board with certification.
Sounds like problems with some absentee ballots- but not enough to have changed the outcome. The Dems suggested the audit to get to certifying the election.
If the drift toward autocracy consisted only of some willful officials in high places, that trend might be blocked by an alert public. But seventy million Americans voted for a man whose actions amount to treason—actions that threaten national security, public health, and democracy itself. They endorse the drift toward one man’s rule. The public’s emotions are fanned by the disinformation spewed out by Fox News and many web sites. Elite Republicans may know better but have sold their souls. . . Democracy is in peril. If Biden takes office next year, he and his team will face a large job not only in rebuilding what Trump has damaged but in educating the country in the values of knowledge, tolerance, and mutual respect.
I wonder if those two Republican board members caved because they realized the longer they held up the election the more closely people would be scrutinizing their past words and actions.
Just peeked at his public page now, here’s one of his posts from last week. He’s not even pretending to be objective.
Fucking sick. The Trump campaign is now suing individual electors.
Here’s one:
I know it’s accurate, but I can’t help hearing that text read in the same voice that narrates action dramas, “In a world divided, only one man stands in the way of utter collapse…”
that kind of thing.
I dont know what to say about your mind being that infected by corporate entertainment.
IKR? It was more a reaction to his kind of over the top style of prose, which is scary because everything he’s writing is totally accurate.
I don’t even watch those kinds of movies, but I guess now we get to live one…
