Chicago Sun-Times has a page of election results for Illinois. Mark Curran did not win the seat created after redistricting, and Michael Burke appears to have lost re-election.
Specific to Cook County, I found Injustice Watch to be helpful in making a list of which judges to vote in favor of or against retention. Unfortunately, even a judge recommended by none of the 13 bar associations was retained.
I usually vote in person, but first I look over a sample ballot online so I know exactly whatās on it and all the wording, etc. Then I do that research online like you do, to fill in my knowledge gaps, before I go to the polls. (If I think thereās any chance that Iāll draw a blank or mis-remember something when Iām there in person, I jot down exactly how I plan to vote, and take that along with me.)
Iām able to view my sample ballot on the Minnesota Secretary of Stateās website, by putting in my street address (here, just for example: Minnesota Secretary Of State - What's On My Ballot? . If someoneās stateās SOS doesnāt offer that, they could try at ballotpedia.org.
You can bring anything into the voting booth with you, including notes youāve printed or written, or even notes on your phone. Pull up your sample ballot in advance, go to all the various sites (which donāt work in Indiana, but I know they do in Illinois) to find out the dirt on the judges, and then just put together a list of yes/no to bring with you.
Michigan also passed same day voter registration. You can register to vote and vote on election day until the polls close. It was passed by more than 2/3s of the voters and added to our constitution in 2018.
University of Michigan was registering voters only election day.
The republicans are livid about that calling it cheating.
Voting according to our constitution is now considered cheating.
I donāt remember where I heard this so take it with some salt, but I remember being explained that you donāt want people voting with cameras. Then you could prove you voted a particular way, or more to the point someone could demand you prove that.
That was the reason I was given. One year I had saved the names of the hard to remember candidates like judges and school board officials on my phone and they told me I had to keep the phone away from the machine or leave. We also arenāt in any kind of real privacy. There are little blinders by the machine but they are like one foot high and you can see everyone in the room at a glance.
