The rusting remains of eight British Hurricane fighter planes dating back to World War Two have been found buried in a forest in Ukraine.

The aircraft were sent to the Soviet Union by Britain after Nazi Germany invaded the country in 1941.

They were part of a package of allied military support for the USSR, paid for by the United States under the so-called Lend-Lease scheme.

After more than a week, wild Shoygu emerged to comment on Prigozhin’s mutiny:

“These plans have failed primarily because the personnel of the Armed Forces followed their oath and military duty.” - said Shoygu.

The 217th VDV regiment who pledged loyalty to Wagner doesn’t count, I suppose.

Ukrainian authorities have charged a former top security official with treason, Kyiv’s domestic intelligence agency said on Monday, Reuters reports.

Oleh Kulinich, who headed the Security Service of Ukraine’s (SBU) Crimea directorate, was arrested last July on accusations of recruiting other Russian-friendly operatives on orders from Moscow.

Investigators said Kulinich was working for Russia’s Federal Security Service and was overseen by other former Ukrainian officials who had defected to Moscow.

“This is a clear signal to all those who work for the enemy: the SBU will definitely find you and make you answer for what you have done,” SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk, who oversaw the operation to detain Kulinich, said in a statement.

If convicted, Kulinich faces up to 15 years in prison.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy last year hailed Kulinich’s arrest as part of a process of “self-purification”.

Ukrainian authorities are also investigating Andriy Naumov, a former head of the SBU’s department of internal security, who turned up in Serbia last year in a car stuffed with cash and emeralds, police said.

Not convinced, but there’s enough truth, and these guys are seasoned pros, so maybe? I was always of the idea that Wagner wanted out, and this was a pretty good feint…

Yea, Russia is able to use mines because they have no respect for their own troops, and because as invaders they don’t have to worry about cleanup afterwards. Sure, it slows the offensive down a lot, but it’s not sustainable. The rate at which they have been deploying means they are outstripping supply, and the effect on their own troops’ morale is also reaching a tipping point.

What I see happening is that in 2024 we are going to have another crisis as Russia implodes, and eventually someone unhinged is going to get a nuke and actually use it.

I’m going to doubt the 5 dimensional chess story. Putin shot himself in the dick; the end.

Wagner wanted money. Lots of money and not to die.

They were being slaughtered.

The idea of a ruse to move Russian troops to Belarus has been doing the rounds ever since Lukashenko announced the deal. The riposte is that if Putin wanted to move troops to Belarus he would simply do it, as he did before the invasion.
