i may have misunderstood, but wasnāt lennonās point that in his lifetime he was more popular than jesus was in his. a negligible pecentage of humans alive in the first century knew of jesus. the beatles were piped to nearly every human being on the planet. he was astounded and incredulous.
Well this is going to make the recent drama surrounding Gearbox Software more interesting
Weād already gone from āfunnyā to āstupidā, then from āstupidā to āworryingā. Now weāve crossed the line between āworryingā and āoutright dangerousā.
Trump will drag as many agencies and their credibility down with him as he can, to hell with any potential consequences that might arise from people losing faith in the National Fucking Weather Service to accurately forecast and report the weather.
Ugh. Justā¦ ugh.
NOAA would put their name on it. NOAA at all. That way, NOAA could be held responsible.
How many impeachable offenses are we up to this week?
āWhat is very important is when the NWS issues a hurricane warning or flash flood warningāitās very important [that] everyone is on the same page. Itās hard enough to convince people to evacuate or take cover. If you have confusion, it could be very bad.ā
āAre people not going to believe the Hurricane Center or our forecasts now?ā
This is just all so fucking stupid, all because Trump canāt just let it go and move on. And now people will almost certainly die because of it.
Iām just hoping the stress consumes him sooner rather than later.
I dunno. It is a tossup for dumber or more petty than this fuel efficiency kerfuffle.
The storyās thin, and the context is debateable, but FWIW.
Weāre reliably told that the president has a second and more venal agenda: He is attempting to force Mr. Zelensky to intervene in the 2020 U.S. presidential election by launching an investigation of the leading Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. Mr. Trump is not just soliciting Ukraineās help with his presidential campaign; he is using U.S. military aid the country desperately needs in an attempt to extort it.
Seems unlikely and yet completely plausible.
I think I need to lie down.
Itās probably good on some level that this is still surprising, even though by now it absolutely shouldnāt be.
Whoever takes over in 2020 (please #deity) is going to have to do some serious house cleaning.
I mean clearly itās too much to ask for organizations related to the sciences be fucking non-partisan. āTrump NOAAā. What a crock of shit.
Then again, according to:
NOAA has not had a confirmed leader since January of 2017.
For fuck sake, Trump canāt even get someone competent enough to run the NOAA confirmed. I guess itās ok because itās not like weāve been having record breaking hurricane seasons year after year or anything.
you buried the lede. linked in that article is this from mother jones
What it shows is that ALL agencies under the Trump administration are corrupt, even the weather report. Those rosy BLS jobs numbers that come out every quarter, 150k jobs created, 200k jobs created, quarter after quarter after quarter with no sign of slowing? Complete, utter bullshit. And everything else, complete utter lies and bullshit.
Iām not ready to bury all the agencies. They do important work (duh) which we need them to keep doing. Trump seems to want to tarnish or destroy their reputations to make it harder for them to accomplish their missions, possibly because it clears the way for Trump and his kind to do their dirty work. Pointing fingers at the agencies helps Trump and hurts the rest of us.
Just to clarify: Iām not against the agencies themselves. (Many of them.) Just the agencies in their current incarnation. The EPA, for example, is essential. But under Trump, itās a toothless worm squirming to exist. I am not advocating getting rid of the agencies. We need to get rid of Trump and all his sycophants.
Cool. Maybe I shouldnāt have said anything. Iām a little sensitive after seeing this:
which instead of dinging the Prez is broad-brushing NOAA, when it seems to me they should just be talking about the NOAA person running their Twitter account, and/or the one man leading us all down a storm drain.
