šŸ–• šŸŠ šŸ¤” A Continuing Round-Up of Trumpian Events šŸ–• šŸŠ šŸ¤”

Stay home, or vote for the biggest wingnut they can write-in or primary.

I covered the primary scenario, but both of the other two options are self-owns. Not ruling that out, but if one were a GOP senate candidate, Iā€™m saying one would have tools and options to deal with that. The primary is the real threat. Second only to actual violence: most political assassinations are done by the extremes in oneā€™s own party, not by opposites.

ā€¦and yet a lot of old people will continue to still love him.

AARP better step their game up.

Last congresscritter town hall I attended a rep came out and spoke to current events. Afterwards he left with a bunch of known trumpers so thereā€™s that.

I do think he does shit like this just to establish dominance over other Republicans. They know it will hurt them if he pushes those policies, and he knows it, but he likes to watch them eat shit and say how much they like it.

Not sure where else to place this, but this seemed as good a place as any:

They are selling off the NARA building in Seattle to make a profit off the land. This is a load of bullshit.

Itā€™s not the only building that was recommended for sale, either:

Government buildings, park lands, land rights ā€¦

Yeah it seems like a lot, aimed at just selling off the public good for private gain. The NARA building came across my radar because of the American historical association. They are writing a letter, cause they like to write letters. Unless itā€™s about the jobs crisis in our fieldā€¦ then they like to gather data and write about the changes happening, and wave their hands about job diversityā€¦ Not that Iā€™m bitter. Perish the thought!

If the closure goes through, the research services and historic materials currently held there would be moved to facilities in Missouri and California.

Iā€™ve heard that before.

Perfect. Since thatā€™s what the current Uber-Republicans in power want to do with any and all forms of public ownership ā€“ dump them in a dumpster, and get rich in the process.

Harper had exactly the same game plan as the current Uber-Republicans, just mapped onto Canadian politics and a more Pence/Ted Cruz personality.

Plus, if history and documented facts disagree with your world view, then theyā€™ll have to go.

And historians are regularly targets and are deserving of much more respect than they get. If they werenā€™t so important, why would authoritarians so consistently go after them?

Whatā€™s funny is how little the game matters to Trump. Heā€™s literally the strutting pigeon on their chess board. And the GOP has done the same over the decades as well which has led to the situation weā€™re in. Once the Democrats realize that ā€œThe Processā€ isnā€™t worth the time and effort then I suspect theyā€™ll begin to affect policy. Until then theyā€™ll keep thinking ā€œThe Processā€ will save the world rather than people who have to fight and die to the same everyday elsewhere in the world.

Sometimes in very direct ways, other times in more indirect ways (cutting funding for the humanities, moving away from hiring full time, tenure track profs to contingent labor, offering bullshit alternatives that seeks to reinforces particular narratives through the popular publishing, etc).

Could be misattributed, but I always like this quote by Nikita Khrushchev:

Even here on the BBS, some people donā€™t like it when you bring in a more complicated, contingent historically minded take to some discussions when it doesnā€™t match up with their own view of events.

Trump has said repeatedly he does not know Parnas, a Soviet-born American who has emerged as a wild card in Trumpā€™s impeachment trial, especially in the days since Trump was impeached.

ā€œGet rid of her!ā€ is what the voice that appears to be President Trumpā€™s is heard saying. ā€œGet her out tomorrow. I donā€™t care. Get her out tomorrow. Take her out. Okay? Do it.ā€

On the recording, it appears the two Giuliani associates are telling President Trump that the U.S. ambassador has been bad-mouthing him, which leads directly to the apparent remarks by the President. The recording was made by Fruman according to sources familiar with the tape. The White House did not respond to an ABC News request for comment.

"Boy Iā€™m so powerful I can intimidate the entire Ukrainian governmentā€ Giuliani messaged Parnas in May 2019. ā€œPlease donā€™t tell anyone I canā€™t get the crooked Ambassador fired or I did three times and sheā€™s still there.ā€

The identities of others participating in the recorded conversation are unclear. During an early portion of the recording where video can be seen, Donald Trump Jr. appears on the recording posing for pictures with others. Sources say they were attending a larger event happening at the hotel that night for a super PAC that supports the president.

Another clip seen on the recording, according to the sources, is of individuals entering what appears to be a suite at the Trump Hotel for the intimate dinner. The phone that was recording the Trump conversation appears to be placed down on a table with the audio still recording the conversation between the commander-in-chief and other guests, according to the sources. The image of the president does not appear on the video reviewed by ABC News.

The truly most bizarre thing about this whole impeachment thing is Chris Cuomo praising Kellyanneā€™s brilliant use of the Chewbacca defence whenever sheā€™s on TV
