In that particular one, I think I read the judge decided the state sponsors of the defendents were likely using discovery to uncover things the American intelligence establishment preferred to keep secret.
The way I read it was that the Trump administration had classified some of the evidence after the charges were filed, which rendered the prosecution impossible. Why they would have done that is a mystery…
Trump appeared to celebrate the dropping of the charges and the scuttling of the trial as more evidence of the flaws of Mueller’s operation. Late Monday night, the president retweeted another user’s comment about the developments: “How embarrassing for Team Mueller.”
Yeah, this is a great time for a loyalty witch-hunt.
