Amy Klobuchar quits Democratic race

Oh, it totally could have been taken out of context… I would like to see the next 30 seconds of that speech.

these three are not progressives IMHO

FSM help us if there is.

IOW - please, shoot me now.

“I’m telling you that I’m going to the convention! I’m not giving up!”… nope.

I misread that and momentarily considered the absolute lunacy of a Bernie/Bloomberg run.

Kind of like how as a kid I thought the candidate who lost the presidential race became Vice President.

you can be sure the DNC leaned on her (and Pete) to get out now - and because she is a good centrist old-school dem, she complied.

well, that just depends on exactly how old you are…

were you born before or after 1804?

I think the implication is that the bootlicker wing is consolidating because they’re afraid of the fact that Bernie is pulling votes.

Who knows what Bloomberg wants? We do though know what he has done.

Even Trump was against the Iraq War. Bloomberg supported George W Bush against Kerry in 2004, AFTER it was public that there had been no WMDs, after torture, Abu Ghraib, thousands of lives lost.

We know about stop and frisk. “Throw the kids against the wall”. “Kill it.” NDAs settling sexual harassment suits. We know about the illegal surveillance of Muslims. (A program Trump found inspiring). We know about “he, she, or it.” We know he sued the city to overturn living wage laws.

Bloomberg tossing his spare change in the right direction sometimes doesnt whitewash all of that.

In any event, he cant beat Trump, so we’d have 4 more years of Trump and all we’d have to show for it would be a party with no further credibility as the opposition.

“According to CBS News, Klobuchar will endose Biden at a rally this evening in Texas.”
Because of course she will!

I doubt it was “leaning” that did the trick, and I doubt the DNC was involved.

Biden’s campaign convinced them both to drop out in exchange for stuff. It looks like Biden’s team has orchestrated a large, evenly timed wave of people dropping out and former candidates endorsing Biden. Biden’s team has timed all of these to hit one after another. It’s actually kind of an impressive little marking campaign.

People that knew that they were going to lose cashed out when their value was the absolute highest. Pete and Amy cashed out their political capital and got something for it. If Biden wins, we will learn what they won. Pete will almost certainly get a cabinet position to build his resume for a future run for president. I’m not sure what Amy cashed out her political capital for, but I’ll bet she made Pete drop out first as part of her condition.

this is a likely reality. The overall government system is probably unable to implement true progressive agenda items, and this consolidation is a defence mechanism.

You could tell me Bloomberg eats babies every evening and I still wouldn’t care. If he wins the nomination, I’ll vote for him.

At this point though, I’m pretty sure Biden is going to win. The party likes him because old people and black people will vote for him. Young people don’t like him but I don’t think the party cares about them because they aren’t big donors and they aren’t reliable voters.

That would be a mad scientist kind of move. So crazy it just might work, to capture right leaning votes while not actually giving real power to the right wing.

Or it could backfire spectacularly and cause left leaning voters to stay home. Hard to tell.
