That’s part of the problem. The adults with authority are missing. The airports that I’ve gone through recently are not enforcing the Federal face mask requirement in the terminals, etc… People go maskless at the gate and everywhere in between. Airline personnel stationed at their rented gate spaces just look on like there is nothing to see here. They only care that people wear one upon boarding.

Looking at their interaction (and her own lack of concern with mask wearing around the screaming idiot) I’m fairly certain she’s his friend or partner (travel companion in any case).
I don’t see her as especially heroic there, she’s mostly trying to avoid any more second hand embarrassment and the travel delay an arrest would bring.

Man, I was hopping through DTW one time from the east coast and I had already set my watch back to CA time and my flight was delayed. Went to the bar, ordered a drink, then another, etc…
Looked at my watch - plenty of time.
Looked at it again… holy shit, I already set it back to CA time. I made the flight, literally when they were closing the doors.

I don’t understand people who agree to wear a mask, but wear it wrong - below their nose, chin-strap, etc. What do they think they’re accomplishing? They’re violating the rule just as much as not wearing a mask at all. Also, it looks incredibly stupid.

I recently re-read Ron Jones’ Third Wave story, and what stood out this time: it was the mediocre students, the ones who were probably never going to shine socially, or at sports, or academically who really took to the Third Wave. They finally found something they were good at, and they liked it. Blind obedience to simple rules gave them a place they didn’t have before.
