True. I imagine that Trump does not read the briefings, and if they are being read to him he’s just waiting for a chance to talk.
I feel like we are aware that the U.S. has been fighting a proxy war with Russia in Syria for years now. This doesn’t surprise me much.
If you can’t or won’t see the difference between an open standup fight and suborning assassination, you desperately need a new brain.
John Oliver said it best. You should have it tattooed on the insides of your eyelids so you can’t forget. “They only pretend to believe these things on television for money.”
That’s a tough call. I think it depends on WHY they joined the military. The amount of racism and authoritarianism in military circles (and Law enforcement) kinda shows (to my cynical mind anyway) that at best they’re fighting for (some version of) the US of A, but not for democracy. So some might be mad at trump for putting their ‘brothers’ at risk, but I just don’t buy the altruistic lie anymore. A bigger number than we may have thought are simply bullies getting paid to play with guns. And bullies love other bullies, so they’d keep siding with trump even though it seems completely antithetical to the whole selfless ‘higher purpose’ BS they love to spout while hearIng ‘Thank you for your service’ walking thru airports.
Unfortunately my already pretty dismal view of human nature has sunk even lower in the past few years.
George Carlin explained it. He said they were so hot to protect fetuses so they could have a lot of live babies that they could turn into dead soldiers.
As commander-in-chief and responsible for putting boots on the ground there in the first place, isn’t DJT eligible for some of that bounty for himself? Couldn’t we demand to see his income stream to see if he received any?
Or… When attempting to get sanctions lifted and get Russia re-admitted to G7…
“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”
Hmm… if a foreign state is paying people to kill your troops, maybe it meets the definition of “enemy”. If you’re trying to get sanctions lifted, and restore political positions for them “giving aid or comfort”…
When’s the trial?
There is a difference, sure. But to some of us, that difference appears small compared to what else is going on: US troops are in a foreign country in a “war” that is nothing more than a travesty that has been going on for decades now, where they illegally killed, detained and tortured countless innocent people. People went to prison for making these things public.
Now someone puts a bounty out on those troops, and Trump doesn’t tell the public, and somehow that’s the story. No, the story still is: the US of A has nothing to do in Afghanistan. Don’t like the bounty: GTFO of Afghanistan.
If it gets too much traction Trump will resign and get a full pardon from Pence
Easy, when a fat paycheque is involved, or some other ‘favour’ down the line…
Yes, I agree completely. I feel like my ability to digest rebarbative Republican behavior has reached its capacity.
Sorry if I came off as jerky there.
