Exactly what I came here for. Still don’t know what it really means, though. Anybody?
I read it as “poz” party, because he’s positive for Covid, and others there will likely become positive.
Pence’s rally today at a Florida retirement community isn’t exactly following best practices for health guidelines either. Even if nobody there gets Covid there’s a good chance some are going to have serious issues from the heat (it’s hot, it’s crowded, and several people have already had to be escorted out after collapsing).
ETA: Oh snap, someone flew overhead with this banner:
Yeah, I’ll bet they’re doing contract tracing to every grocery store clerk, gas station attendant, store employee, etc. that these jack-holes come into contact with. They shouldn’t make you sign a disclaimer that you won’t sue, they should sign a disclaimer that you are legally obligated to self isolate with yourself and any one you live with for two weeks after the event under penalty of reckless endangerment.
So many advantages to speaking from a balcony. You feel like God. Looking at the ants worshiping you gives you a hard on. You don’t have to be where you must actually to interact with those messy, stupid losers. You can’t hear protestors, so they don’t exist. No one exists but you, you, you. Authoritarians love altitude. Remember the scene in The Great Dictator where Adenoid Hynkel tries to impress Benzino Napaloni with “the force of his personality”? I’d love to see someone pull that on Trump.
Does anyone have the short version of what the hell “Blexit Backs the Blue” is supposed to mean?
I have a vague notion that it has something to do with a mostly-imaginary exodus of Black people leaving the Democratic party to support Trump, but I can’t make heads or tails of what that tagline is trying to say. It sounds like they’re saying “we are part of a movement called Blexit, which supports Democrats” but that clearly can’t be right.
Also seconding the impression that it looks like a few hundred people in attendance, tops.
ETA: OK, after some Googling it looks like it’s an ostensibly grassroots pro-law-enforcement group that is actually bankrolled by self-loathing conservative activist Candace Owens, who paid to ship in as many black people as they could get in an attempt to prove Trump isn’t racist.
Whats weird is: Trump is so dumb he thinks one of his followers would ever sue him if they caught Covid 19…
If anything, the follower would sue the Joe Biden For President organization.
actual, unredacted (albeit edited out of context) clip of Mussolini, c. 1930.
That is the first time that I’ve encountered the word BLEXIT, but I can only assume that it is short for Black Lives Exit.
Peak MAGA. Every single fucking day, 2020 tops itself.
So… she didn’t get invited to the RNC, and now she’s paying to shill for 45?
It immediately reminded me of Nagilum from ST:TNG.
ETA: Merged with coronavirus.
Death Cult.
And not very effectively by the looks of things. There was a bigger crowd in attendance at my kids’ last Elementary School pageant. And those kids are terrible entertainers.
They lack imagination, so they rely on weak copies of everything. They hear about people using Blaxit, so they adopt Blexit. They see BLM for Black Lives Matter, so they use the same initials and substitute Blue for Black.
It reminds me of cybersquatters who depend on typos in URLs. I can’t imagine they think someone will show up after being lured under false pretenses and decide to join their group anyway. I’m sure they’ve attempted to fool people into donating money, too.
She’s finally set up a 501©3 Blexit Foundation, but it too soon for any Form 990s.
I expect that she has funding from the same old white guys as Turning Point USA. “Kicking her out” seemed more for show than real scandal. I thought she’d found the son of a multimillionaire hedge fund trader and Tory peer to settle down with.
I wonder what ‘stately amount’ was enough to risk getting Covid?
Few experiences are more empowering than walking away from a lousy contract. I bet there’s even a passage about that in The Art Of The Deal.
So not only did the White House pay a bunch of young Black people to stand on the White House lawn wearing the apparel provided, but they also referred to the event as “a peaceful protest in support of our law enforcement.”
Bro—if you have to pay people to show up for the cameras and provide them with costumes then they aren’t “protesters,” they’re “extras.”
