I like it!

"To be clear, the whole thing was surreal and very brief.”

This entire administration certainly fits the first part, and I hope it comes to meet the second part of that description as well.

It’s folks like Nikos that give me hope.

I must say, calling the president a bureaucrat is an insult to bureaucrats everywhere. He doesn’t have the brains to be bureau, much less a bureaucrat.

Good for him! But I think I would have opted out of any photo op with the current occupant of the White House.

i’d be seriously torn about being seen with trump too, but i think he handled this perfectly. i would be SO pissed when they said to put the fan away. getting trump to say “sure” puts the clampdown on any underlings, so that was a smart move.

I saw this when it came out a few days ago, and I have seriously mixed feelings about it.

On the one hand, the guy totally fucking nailed it. Seriously. It was the best thing I saw that day, if not the whole week. It was executed with artistry.

On the other hand… it’s kind of juvenile. You know?

Wow, the Donald seemed completely ok with this. Gotta give it to him on this one.

Would you say your feelings about it were ambigious?

But he probably thinks of himself as an aristo (crat) and we already know he does not like bureaux - especially federal ones (well, at least one bureau).

I’m guessing he had no idea at the time what the guy was doing with that fan and what the image would portray. A more sophisticated version of doing the bunny ears behind someone. Love it.

I’m impressed by how real Melania looks.

The “uncanny valley” is certainly put through its paces with her.

Trump has serious issues, but his support for gay rights has been longstanding.

“I like the idea of amending the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include a ban of discrimination based on sexual orientation. It would be simple. It would be straightforward. We don’t need to rewrite the laws currently on the books, although I do think we need to address hate-crimes legislation. But amending the Civil Rights Act would grant the same protection to gay people that we give to other Americans — it’s only fair.” (Trump, 2000, The Advocate)

It’s a touch camp, but then again, camp has a long and venerable history in queer rights. Besides, the dude is hot – he needs that fan or he might just burst into awesome flames.

Yes, that’s true, he did lie in 2000. But that’s hardly news. He lies daily. The news is, we were so hungry for a rich, powerful ally that we bought it. Well. Some of us.

If you have an impulsive, living-in-the-moment type of boss, this is exactly how you get a yes - right before the camera clicks.

Have you seen his vice president?

You guys seem to be under the impression that if you peel back enough layers, the “real” Donald Trump will be revealed. But there’s no “there” there. There is no center. He has no core beliefs. Just a yawning emptiness that requires constant feeding with attention and affirmation.

He’s from New York, and worked in television. In his old life he probably rubbed shoulders with all sorts of people, and as much as I despise pretty much everything about him, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was personally not bothered by marriage equality and such.

Not that he’d would not sell out those beliefs in an instant if it would raise his ratings a few points.

Awesome! Remember, even the small battles help turn the tide.
