Results

No casualties.

Several ships have returned with Honeywine and spirits are high despite the permeating smell of sand fish wafting through Duck’s Pond. Adding to the jubilant mood, a boatload of deferred payments came in from Unizone.

Slug Races: Did I mention slug races are slow? It might be a day or two before results… Dad’s Boot, Go Slug Go! and Mine that Slug lead the pack with Lord BlurgleBlorg closing ground quickly. Cigarello sputtered out and Hot Harry died of heat exhaustion.

Mission 4 Note: Captains hauled the maximum load they could afford with Unizone credit. Sorry about the smell, gotta keep those sand fish shipping.

He was the quiet sort. Human (or perhaps Space Lizard…they can be so difficult to tell apart). Short with a predilection to wide brimmed hats and a black over coat. He spoke Galactic Common with an accent, but our chats were infrequent so I never quite placed which sector it was from. If I took a guess, I’d say some outer branch of the Triple Charlie Papa sector. But again, I really couldn’t say.

I offered him my state room which he quickly took advantage of. I then offered him Lt. Rockford as a liaison, but he seemed suspicious of that. He wanted privacy and I gave it to him. He did use quite a bit of comm time and mentioned as he left the ship that I should see about picking up some of the Unizone Communication Enhancement Package. I shook my antlers and mentioned how not all of us were made of StarBits. He chuckled and said, maybe my days were looking up.

So I’ll be putting in the Comm Upgrade package now. Hopefully it’ll take care of that echo I seem to keep hearing recently.

Dear Unizone accounting department.

I believe your recent statement for the Muddln’ Through to be error – which is completely understandable given that lawyers were involved.

The most recent statement read:

The account is correct as stated. However, your Attorney Graham Clackington wrote in his resolution letter “we fully support creative uses of these programs” and "Captain Falkyn’s [sic] credit line for sand fish has been approved and processed, less your b25 attorney fee.

The mission orders were to buy five crates of sandfish using Unizone credit, so I believe the corrected statement (changes noted in bold) should read

Just to be clear: I am being charged b25.0 for Graham Clackington’s time?

Richard “Racehorse” Haynes is retained by the Polesotechnic league. For him to accept anything from Unizone, even a keychain, would be unethical. Indeed, Unizone merely suggesting Mr Haynes was offered money by Unizone would generate a tort in its own right.

From my perspective Unizone has deprived me of b55.0. I will seek other avenues of redress.

Still, this exchange has been worthwhile, as it has publicly displayed how Unizone treats its “partners.”

Thank you for the key chain. I am certain Azdell will find it a useful focus for his next meditation.
