Then I realized that you could probably do some really, really cool stuff with a conveyer belt pizza oven… but you’d have some interesting problems since the one end would have been baked for hours by the time the other end made it through…

Seems like an interesting restaurant concept. There’s only one sandwich, made continuously, assembly-line style… dough goes in one end, gets extruded into a continuous baguette, passes through an oven, gets sliced in half and fixin’s inserted, then you just cut off a segment to serve it. Pay by the inch.

Yes, buche is made with a thin cake rolled up with icecream. The bread loaf recipe is something different. I’ve only seen it once, years ago, though I’ve seen the loaves in stores often.
