Chili's refused to honor Veteran's Day meal deal for black veteran (Update: Chili's apologizes, promises to make it right)

Might be asking for trouble here, but if you google “military imposters pictures”, they’re overwhelmingly white dudes…

All in all the diversity was minimal, but they did have a number of slightly surprising foreign volunteer units.

Killer image/reply. Thanks a bunch for that–think about those two: shat on back home, literally relegated to the back of the bus, but right now? Right now they’re dropping 105mm* hellfire on top of the openly-racist nazi shit somewhere within 10+km. Take that motherfuckers! We got a whole box of these nasty things, gonna drop 'em right down on your position. BOOM.

And let me say, as a veteran and, more importantly, a big tall white dude veteran, nobody has ever questioned where or when I served as a suggestion that I was lying. Ever. These hard-asses strolling around calling out all the suspected ‘fakers’ always seem to restrict their ire to a specific range of skin colors. It’s despicable and revealing.

*or maybe 155mm, but that looks like the back of an M2 105 to this flyboy. Either way, death from the skies. Don’t care what you play just play it loud okay?

Preach.

Pew says that a little over 55% of Americans voted. Which means 45% of them didn’t. You know, because they were busy and being kept from the polls and stuff. Godammit.

They should have sent out an email to all managers (perhaps all staff) explaining the veterans’ day meal deal and how it works. They should have also sent out an email to all managers on the subject of service animals. Those might even be in the employee handbook.

They need to verify that’s the case, then fire that toerag’s ass.

And let me add a little more info to that great image linked by @nemomen:

My father worked at the VA back in the 70s and 80s in their dentistry department, and one day had a black vet in his chair being fitted for dentures. And my dad, being my dad, was chatting with the fellow, who was getting his dentistry work done while he was waiting on something else.

And, my dad found out, he had been a POW in the Korean War, and the rules were at the time, if you had been a POW for 6 months, you got everything done for free. Otherwise, some things had to be paid out of pocket by the vet.

Some racist shithead with a pen totaled up the vet’s time and found that he was thirty-six hours short of the cutoff for full covered service.

Meaning that the dentures he was making had to be paid out of pocket for a man who had had to march across frozen ground after being captured at the Chosin Reservoir.

While vets, on the other hand, would routinely get waved on through if they were short by that much, “out of recognition of their service.”

(My dad ended up making an end run around the 'crats by conspiring with the guy’s primary doc to justify getting the dentures done for free; turns out, he was in for hemorrhoids, and he called the primary and said, “Hi, up in dentistry, and I have Corporal Such-and-such in my chair. In your honest medical opinion, if I fix the input, will that help the output?”)

Nope, 155mm (serving Gunner here). Among other things, that round is way too big, Negroes were predominantly posted into non-divisional and heavier calibre artillery units, and the trail in the background is waaaaay too robust for a 105mm

Just so. The exact calibre is completely irrelevant in this context

“Sir I’m going to need you to calm down” Wow. Speaking as someone who has worked a lot of retail in my life, and has a cop for a dad, I didn’t know my rage meter could actually break. I would never, in 10,000 lifetimes, talk to a customer like that. He sounds like he thinks he’s a cop. You’re not kid, you’re an assistant manager at a chain restaurant. You have absolutely no right to tell someone that you need them to calm down. In this kind of situation, any sane retail employee (which is essentially what he is) would do whatever they could to make the customer happy because it’s not worth the damage in the reputation to your business. All of this is by way of saying that this kid is acting like a hipster Nazi who thinks he gets to be part of the citizen’s brownshirt brigade. 2016 y’all. I think the new years celebrations this year are going to be a lot more funerary than usual, cause 2017 isn’t exactly looking hot.

Not bad at all, though the franchise stores can be a bit iffy. But the vast majority in the US are corporate owned, and are pretty good. They’re a hell of a lot better than most in their casual dining category, like Applebees, Cotton Patch (ugh!), TGIFridays, Red Robin, etc.

The one thing better in my mom’s Kansas neighborhood is Texas Roadhouse. They get top rating because butter yeast rolls.

O’Charleys wins.

Never heard of it.

A friend of mine from UF/G’ville worked at Quincy’s as a steak chef for a while, but that’s more like Sirloin Stockade - buffet style.
And people of color welcome.

No wonder. It’s based out of Tennessee:

I’ve only ever been there in Tennessee and Missouri, but it’s apparently in 17 states.

I don’t think that’s true.

I’ve met a couple. Back in the early 90s. My father in law was a Vietnam Vet biker guy. Every once in a while they’d get some idiot that had never served come and pretend they had served. They always got found out. Now that you mention it, They were all white.

My friend who has a service dog showed me the list. There seemed to be a lot of the so-called vicious breeds* on there, but maybe Shih-Tzus were excluded as well. I can’t remember everything that was on the list, just that there was a list.

*there are no vicious breeds, just vicious owners.

"informs me that a guest said that I was not a real soldier because I had my hat on indoors."
That’s a really far-fetched reason for him not to be a vet.

All breeds are allowed as per ADA. Although some probably should not be but it would be to hard to implement ( to many variables)

We have them here… not too bad, actually, for a chain sit down place. The rolls are really good.
