Considering how many cowboy hats, farmer’s hats, and MAGA hats I’ve seen on men indoors, I find that doesn’t pass the smell test. (Yes, I’m old-school enough that men wearing non-religious headgear indoors bothers me.)
It’s my go-to chain place when I’m traveling through Tennessee. The rolls are the best rolls of all the chain places. Their pies aren’t bad either. However, if you’re ever in the Missouri Bootheel, check out Lambert’s.
Ahhhh! I see.
Q&A about the ADA.
https://www.ada.gov/regs2010/service_animal_qa.html
Note: There is one limitation that @mycroftb didn’t mention. Under the ADA, only dogs can qualify as service animals.
Got it. The list must have been from some agency or another that trains or breeds service dogs.
Welcome to bOING bOING!
It kinda makes sense, in that most soldiers do have it drummed into them relentlessly to take your hat off indoors.
Oh the other hand, soldiers also have shaving every day and short hair drummed into them. And I know plenty of retired soldiers who, as soon as they get out, grow long hair and big bushy beards. Mr Walker has been released from service, and has no further requirement to follow service rules.
Also: ID card, and DD214. Also, thanks for your service in WWII, old guy, but mind your own fucking business.
My brother in law is ex-Air Force and he never takes his damn hat off.
I bet he did at work
Edit: unless he was a pilot
Edit2: I often don’t take my hat off when I’m wearing civvies. Apart from anything else … .mil hats are easy to stuff in a pocket so your hands are free, or you don’t put it down and forget about it. Civilian hats not so much.
Texas just approved open carry. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to wear your hat indoors if you’re under arms, so I’m just going to assume he was carrying.
This also reminds me of the story a few years back where someone got mad because a Marine didn’t salute the flag indoors.

When offering free meals to veterans, one is expected to have a few people put on some camos or what have you and get a free meal with out actually being in the military. It isn’t good PR or business sense to aggressively vet them on their service. It sure as hell isn’t the customer’s business at all.
-
That document in the video looks legit to me, and he said he had other ID just in case this happened. Sounds legit and that manager is probably fucked at this point.
-
They had segregated units in WWII sure, but what is that old guy doing? Giving fun facts? This guy wasn’t in WWII.
-
I have no idea if his service dog is legit or not, but again, you aren’t the service dog police, and he appeared to have ID for it. At any rate, manager just dug himself deeper.
-
WHY did they not blur the guys address and phone number in the video? WTF? Journalism 101?

I see soldiers and airmen all the time in Walmart or Target with hats on.
I work at a grocery store that once a week has a 10% discount for anyone who is serving, or has served, in the military. We do not ask for ID, period. Some people will flash their military ID before they ask for the 10% off, but it is not expected. If someone says they have served, they get the discount. Customer service 101.
No one else has said it yet…the man KNEW to bring multiple documents to a fast food restaurant to prove he deserved to be there.
This is what is going to be like, now, times 100.
Wikipedia “confirms” that they are 155mm shells.
I’m severly allergic to dogs. I really don’t look forward to sneezing excessively and the watery eyes and runny nose that goes along with “he’s my special baby so I have to take him everywhere.”
Also, from ChuckV’s post above:
Q3. Are emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals considered service animals under the ADA?
A. No. These terms are used to describe animals that provide comfort just by being with a person. Because they have not been trained to perform a specific job or task, they do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. However, some State or local governments have laws that allow people to take emotional support animals into public places. You may check with your State and local government agencies to find out about these laws.
Can’t vouch for this but http://www.ww2f.com/topic/33711-hitlers-non-white-soldiers/
Well, there were probably a few tricky 14 year olds in there, but yeah, 85 at the youngest.
How is that more of a burden than requiring a placard to park in disabled spots?
Oddly enough, this appears to the approach to voter ID laws as well…
Looks like this poor guy got a shitty lawyer too.
Telling the media that the counsel for the people you’re going after apologised to you on the phone before your meeting is a bridge they didn’t need to burn. Discussing anything other than confirming a meeting is taking place is a dumb move.
Some people are born hall monitors.
I know he can’t be denied service (unlike the veteran he took a public shit on), but I’d be satisfied only if the soon to be unemployed manager never feels welcome again in a restaurant.
Semper paratus
In that case I’d steer clear of the movie Waiting.
A white person stealing valor might get community service. A black person stealing valor risks prison or worse. It follows that white cowards are more likely to commit the crime.
Got their asses handed to them by the Greek resistance
At least the Nazi’s were more polite than this Brownshirt-wannabe asswipe Wesly Patrick.
