Somewhere in the world, Jeb Bush brightened a little. He smiled, realizing that at least he’s not JD Vance.

Somewhere, Jeb Bush is realising that there’s something worse than no-one clapping.

The phrasing is even very similar. Does this mean we’re both AI?!

People are pissed about losing their park, but confident that they’ll get it back in November.

What I can’t figure out is why Vance bought a house in that area. It’s about the hippie-dippiest enclave this side of DC.

Either he’s a secret stoner, or he’s surrounded by hundreds of people who despise everything about the guy.

It’s part of the hypocrisy that wealthy conservatives indulge in. They decry “liberal urban neighbourhoods” like that to the rubes but also know they’re some of the most pleasant places in the country to live if one has the money (definitely more pleasant than the shillbilly’s Real America™).

[Alexandria is more of a suburb, but close enough to DC to be considered part of it]

I’m pretty surprised they can kind of just roll up and close a park to protect an individual. I mean, not REALLY surprised that they would do it, but surprised there’s no pushback from whoever operates that park. The city of Alexandria? Did they issue a permit for the barriers and park closure? I’d be fighting it pretty hard if that was my neighborhood park.

In his next book, he can credibly describe this as an assassination attempt.

A lot of captions are generated by software, which is why you sometimes get things like the sound of rainfall labeled as being “foreign music”. But the fact that a machine chose this caption doesn’t really make it any better.

I love that anyone with a passing knowledge of politics immediately thought of old Jeb.

I haven’t even heard of him in years.

I think that’s just a standard state of existence for Republicans, especially Republican politicians. They don’t actually seem to have friends, just cronies, but I guess that’s just the natural result of when you treat your every relationship as transactional.

Reading that article, one thing does occur to me: we should really stop describing the events of 13-Jul-24 as an assassination attempt. That gives Trump entirely too much credit for a greatly exaggerated event.

I have also been in a location where someone shot in my general direction (I heard pellets from the shotgun pass through the plants near me), but I would hardly describe that as an assassination attempt, nor did I feel the need to wear an oversized novelty bandage on my ear the day after appearing in public with absolutely no visible damage on the supposedly damaged area.
