You can say what you like about Roy Moore, but at least he drives slow through school zones. (stolen from a Redditor)
According to an explainer at the polling place, write-in votes get counted in the general sense of seeing how many there are, but they don’t figure into the election unless the, well, here’s the sign: “unless the total number of write-in votes is greater than the difference of the number of votes received by the first-place candidate and the second-place candidate”, and some other conditions.
The fuck?!
Another high five from across the pacific.
92% and 97% of black men and women voting in Alabama respectively disagree with those 2 tweets.
That’s fantastic news - thanks for the update.
Well done Alabama - especially the black voters who ensured decency won.
Note the “Today I voted to defeat Roy Moore” bit.
Voting for the Democrats ≠ approving of the Democrats. A large percentage of their base vote defensively.
The right-wing takeaway: Time to step-up our voter suppression efforts.
Roll Tide. Blue Tide. And keep rolling through 2020.
People knocking on doors, organizing, showing up.
Liberal sweat replaces Liberal tears.
Keep working.
Unshocking news!
Fair enough. But we are in the midst of something far more dangerous than just the latest Republican - we face a reactionary movement so mindless and widespread that it could burn down the country in an attempt to save it from the perceived enemy (us).
And that sort of fever comes as a wave and simply builds momentum, with those in the grip of such madness willing to embrace anything that they see will protect them. (And as the video shows, they’ll invent anything the need to justify what they’re doing - they vote not because they believe, but believe so they can vote.)
And the fact that the madness actually had a limit over which it was unable to pass is, I think, significant.
So, yes, I’m pretty certain the Republicans will win this seat again. However, I think that six years from now, it will likely be a “conventionally deranged” Republican, the likes of which the US has survived many times before.
This does not signal not the destruction of the reactionary movement, but I suspect it does signal the end of their growth - or as Churchill put it, the end of the beginning.
Trump, two days ago: VOTE ROY MOORE! He’s the BEST!!
Trump, this morning: I always knew Roy Moore was a loser.
The Liar in Chief is very fortunate that his most ardent supporters have the attention span of a fruit fly with commensurate memory retention.
Sweet karma, it’s taken so long for you to come to us…
Chose you own dementia.

I can’t wait to see what the Taiwanese Animators’ take is on this election.
