DeSantis quits presidential race and starts sucking up to Trump

There’s always the slim chance that Trump is disqualified - so I guess that anyone still in the race would be the default front runner then - so there is incentive for her to stay in the race.

Signs are that if she has a good showing in NH, moderate (and extremely wealthy) GOP donors will be throwing fundraisers for her.

There is more than just one brass ring available to con-artists and second-rotten-banana wannabes on this shitty ride, and I’d imagine that some, if not all, know it and adjust for that. Anything from right-wing media employment to bullshit ways of raising money from their right-wing dullards. Trump has shown the way.

Yeah, I saw that donor news too. That’s a lot of cash being burned in the fire that keeps the trump cult warm at night.

Millions of dollars isn’t going to re-program Magaciples before the election.

Guess we’ll find out soon one way or another.

If she underperforms in NH this Tuesday it’s hard to imagine she’ll draw in enough financial support to stick it out another six weeks unless some external factor deals a serious blow to Trump in the meantime.

Might be enough to reach out to crossover primary voters to wrest the GOP nomination away from Trump, tho, no? Part of his ‘appeal’ (if that word can be used) is that he’s the ‘bandwagon’ candidate. If that is disrupted, and people start to take a hard look at his liabilities (especially legal ones), I think some/many of the ‘less rabid’ Trump supporters might bail for a ‘safer’ general election candidate.

Anyway, I’m not sitting on the sidelines hoping the GOP comes to its senses. I am going to do my part to try to get them to select a less existentially risky nominee.

I see that you’ve applied the ‘Viewer Laughing Inhibitor’ filter to his face.

Oh no, that’s on him. I just added the blur.

He’s going to win the gQp primary,

Perhaps all these concerned millionaires might give their money to Biden instead.

Children (like Trump) can be glaringly obvious in their cruelties.

Possibly the fear of coming in third in New Hampshire. This way he can claim to quit while (a distant) second for the nomination, as opposed to quitting while dfl.

He had an “ok” showing in Iowa, but he’s predicted to bomb big time in NH. I’d imagine that the time he spent in SC recently also had something to do with it as well. It’s always been a battle for second place at this point, and Nikki Haley is polling much better than he is.

Short of Trump dying at this point I see him dominating the rest of the primaries up until Haley finally decides to call it a day. She’ll never appeal to MAGA Gang, will never appeal to progressives who can see right through her mountains of bullshit, and so-called moderates aren’t motivated like Trump voters are to vote for her in the primaries.

Nikki. Her name is Nikki Haley. Also, don’t do this. This falls under the umbrella of tactics I like to call “shenanigans.” Here’s what all Democratic, progressive, and leftist voters should be doing. Voting for Biden. And telling everyone they know to vote for Biden, even if they think he’s too old. Even if they think it won’t make any difference. Vote for Biden. We need our focus there. Not on splashing around in the kiddie pool that is the GOP primaries, trying to cause trouble for Trump. First of all, there’s no way enough people do this to affect the outcome. It’s just not going to happen. Also, it’s what Trump is complaining already is happening in New Hampshire, without a shred of evidence. The future of this country is too important for these kinds of small politics shenanigans. Just vote for Biden. And vote blue up and down the ballot. Focus on holding the Senate and retaking the House. Those three things will be difficult enough. We don’t need to draw focus away from what’s important to go play games.

i am a bit. reality never seems to mean much to the gop. so whether he could win seemed besides the point.

is he allowed to run for governor again, or would he have to try for the senate to keep his grift going? either way, i hope his donors know better than to support a loser who couldn’t bother to see things through

I mean seriously, given the choice for Biden or Trump if you choose Trump or choose to stay home you are part of the problem and not part of the solution. Even if you live in a state where your vote is unlikely to change the EC outcome, we need the numbers on our side for when the inevitable cries of voter fraud come flooding in. Any R president will be disastrous to the country, but Trump especially so.

Florida has term limits, so no. Unless he convinces the legislature to repeal that, like he did with the law that said you had to resign from office if you were running for a different office. As far as the Senate goes, it’s too late for him to challenge Rick Scott this year, so his best bet would be going after Rubio’s seat, but that’s not up until 2028.

Florida governors can’t do consecutive terms, so he’d ostensibly have to sit out a term. He does seem to have a lot of power, so I could conceive that some of his pet idiots could enact a law changing that, don’t know the difficulty. I’d imagine he’d want to jump into the Senate, if he could.
