This whole bail bondsman thing this week made me dust off Jackie Brown and watch it again.
He’s probably using campaign funds, not personal funds. He’d be more careful if it was personal money.
Already touched on, but the real question is, why would any bailbondsman think loaning this creature money is a good idea?
Maybe they are Trumpists who believe that he will pay them back, and all the people warning them about his history just hate Trump for no good reason?
Because they see big bucks dancing before their eyes. You, you’re buying maybe $100 worth; this is a multi-thousand dollar sale.
So bottom line is they turn their brains off and hope that this time it won’t happen just like every other time.
EDIT: an example of this from the early 80s in California. A crook, who’d been given witness protection by the feds, needed something to show other crooks he supposedly had some money. So the feds gave him a “flimsy”, the thin paper copy of a check deposit clearly marked “NOT A CHECK/ DO NOT DEPOSIT”. He walked into a bank with that and walked out with a loan for more than the phony deposit, based on that flimsy. How? greedy bankers who just turned off their brains when he showed up.
$30k pretty quick profit on a very safe $200k bet. Chances of him not appearing are pretty low. Chances of Trump trying to have the bail paid back to him so he can pass it thru to his bail bondsperson, 100%.
I’d probably be more worried about him running off at the mouth (or “X” post typing fingers) to a point where he falls foul of the court-imposed boundaries.
A sign of wealth is for others to willingly pay your way. The wealthier you are, the more that’s thrown at you. It’s an escalating sickness for everyone involved.
Oh that’s a no-brainer for the bail provider, IMO. I was referring to the jet fuel bill, but I can see that wouldn’t be clear given the other comments.
If you liked Robert Forster in that (and there is a reason he was nominated for an academy award for that role) you should check him out in Diamond Men.

He does spend his life surrounded by federal law enforcement officers. It would require more carefull planning and better execution than he is capable of to ditch them and do a runner. I mean picture him trying to ditch his Secret Service detail by crawling out a bathroom window.
Counterpoint: Law enforcement officers that have had ties to Proud Boys. Would he have to ditch them, or just say he’s going?
I thought he was amazing in that role. Never heard of Diamond Men - thanks!
This should be part of the original post! Good stuff!
So in this case, I’m guessing that money from a Bail Bonds office is a legitimate source, because the Bail Bonds office would have their paperwork in order and would assume all the risk of dealing with proceeds of crime and the legal entanglements that offers. By using a Bail Bonds office, TFG doesn’t have to prove to the court that the money is clean?
Again, Jackie Brown (or Elmore Leonard) nailed it (even if in real life both parties would fully know the score):

Indeed. I was thinking along these lines as a reasonable explanation.
Mine was just, “We want a guarantee from someone we can trust.”
I think this is close, but the answer is disappointingly reasonable.
Wealthy figures frequently hire bondsmen — even when they can afford to post the full amount — to make sure the process goes off without a hitch and check that they don’t violate the terms of their bail
Basically, he’s not paying $30k to borrow $200k, he’s paying $30k to hire an expert in the Georgia bail system.
Personally, I think the bondsman might be risking more than he realizes as the odds that Trump is clearly told a condition of his bail, and chooses to ignore it, is not small.
This happened in Georgia, since the charges are specifically in Fulton Co. GA… Florida has nothing to do with this.
A near certitude IMHO. He is incapable of STFU even under the threat of jail time. No impulse control.
Well, if we’re to believe the information claimed when he was booked (which I don’t) I could see someone the height and weight of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor crawling out a bathroom window. His broad shoulders may prove problematic, but as long as they fit in the window frame he’s good.
