I understand what you’re getting at and agree in spirit. However, when someone is dosing, they don’t exactly have the clearest judgement or rationality. THEY may think so, but no one else does.
Consider: maybe they are.

Perhaps it’s just a ruse to find out what drugs, because his doctors keep telling him there isn’t anything that will do what he needs.
