Donald Trump pitches tantrum at "peace meeting" with GOP senators

Whew! Because I really, really like you.

This is misleading. The term came (back) into use in the late 80s/early 90s, when the blue-dog coalition was formed. Sanders’ positions put him squarely in line with traditional Democrats like Kennedy and Tip O’Neill, the DLC/“new” democrats (like Gore and Bill Clinton) and the blue-dogs (a little to the right of the DLC) are the pathologies that redefined the party.

I prefer “card-carrying” to “yellow-dog” myself, since the latter goes back to the era when the Democratic party was the party of racist rednecks.

If she’s old enough to understand this election cycle, it may end up more of a cautionary tale than an aspirational one.

Via NYTimes — Would Donald Trump Quit if He Wins the Election? He Doesn’t Rule It Out

… in a recent interview with a scenario, floating around the political ether, in which the presumptive Republican nominee proves all the naysayers wrong, beats Hillary Clinton and wins the presidency, only to forgo the office as the ultimate walk-off winner, Mr. Trump flashed a mischievous smile.“I’ll let you know how I feel about it after it happens,” he said minutes before leaving his Trump Tower office to fly to a campaign rally in New Hampshire. It is, of course, entirely possible that Mr. Trump is playing coy to earn more news coverage. But the notion of the intensely competitive Mr. Trump’s being more interested in winning the presidency than serving as president is not exactly a foreign concept to close observers of this presidential race.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday. And it totally doesn’t surprise me. If ever there were a candidate with enough “fuck-you” money (and enough “fuck-you” attitude) to win the election and simply walk away from the actual responsibility of the gig, it’d be him. Kinda like Palin did with her governorship, only far more irresponsibly.

I don’t think he can be bothered with the actual headaches of the actual job. Plus the fact that his wealth-growing schemes would be hampered while he was in office, and his power would be limited by Congress, the Supreme Court, and unfriendly international relations.

I think he covets the trophy, but would shirk the responsibility.

Totally agree. He refuses to even do the job to get the job. It’s 24/7 driving trollies and money-grabbing. I wonder if that’s why he’s hiding — and the GOP is letting him hide — his tax returns.

if he wins - can he sell the job?

I’m just morbidly curious to see who his running mate ends up being. Probably gonna have to be someone considered a better candidate to take over than Palin was. McCain was just old. Trump is a total fucking loose cannon.

It doesn’t sound like Hillary meant to suggest that Chelsea was right there at the WTC at the time. She certainly never said that Chelsea going into the coffee shop saved her life. Saying “she went out for coffee and then the plane hit” does give the inaccurate impression that it hit before she got home, but strictly speaking it’s still true- the plane didn’t hit before she went for coffee. The stuff about going for a jog might have just been what Chelsea would have normally planned to do. The interview with Chelsea doesn’t say what she would have done that day if not for the attack.

the only person on his level: The running mate of D Trump will be D Trump.

Nah, it’s usually much more gladhanding when the cameras are off.

Have you seen the names mentioned?

Nobody with any hope of a political career after this cycle will touch it with a bargepole.

So, someone like Christie or Gingrich, or a real arsehole like Sessions or Pence.

Or Ivanka, natch.

Even money it’s Ivanka.

That would be funny as hell.

I wonder what she’d be like as president?

That’s the popular vote, which we’ve used to decide Presidential elections exactly zero times. Nate Silver put the odds of HRC winning over Trump at 78% to 22%. Crush.

Weird. My original attempt grabbed your profile instead of Abe’s, so I canceled it, and searched for his original post, which is what I used to quote from. Don’t know why it still pointed to you.

It happens a bit here and there. I think this is the first one attributed to me though. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
