Whew! Because I really, really like you.
This is misleading. The term came (back) into use in the late 80s/early 90s, when the blue-dog coalition was formed. Sandersâ positions put him squarely in line with traditional Democrats like Kennedy and Tip OâNeill, the DLC/ânewâ democrats (like Gore and Bill Clinton) and the blue-dogs (a little to the right of the DLC) are the pathologies that redefined the party.
I prefer âcard-carryingâ to âyellow-dogâ myself, since the latter goes back to the era when the Democratic party was the party of racist rednecks.
Yuk yuk yuk.
If sheâs old enough to understand this election cycle, it may end up more of a cautionary tale than an aspirational one.
Via NYTimes â Would Donald Trump Quit if He Wins the Election? He Doesnât Rule It Out
⌠in a recent interview with a scenario, floating around the political ether, in which the presumptive Republican nominee proves all the naysayers wrong, beats Hillary Clinton and wins the presidency, only to forgo the office as the ultimate walk-off winner, Mr. Trump flashed a mischievous smile.âIâll let you know how I feel about it after it happens,â he said minutes before leaving his Trump Tower office to fly to a campaign rally in New Hampshire. It is, of course, entirely possible that Mr. Trump is playing coy to earn more news coverage. But the notion of the intensely competitive Mr. Trumpâs being more interested in winning the presidency than serving as president is not exactly a foreign concept to close observers of this presidential race.
. . .
Yeah, I saw that yesterday. And it totally doesnât surprise me. If ever there were a candidate with enough âfuck-youâ money (and enough âfuck-youâ attitude) to win the election and simply walk away from the actual responsibility of the gig, itâd be him. Kinda like Palin did with her governorship, only far more irresponsibly.
I donât think he can be bothered with the actual headaches of the actual job. Plus the fact that his wealth-growing schemes would be hampered while he was in office, and his power would be limited by Congress, the Supreme Court, and unfriendly international relations.
I think he covets the trophy, but would shirk the responsibility.
Totally agree. He refuses to even do the job to get the job. Itâs 24/7 driving trollies and money-grabbing. I wonder if thatâs why heâs hiding â and the GOP is letting him hide â his tax returns.
if he wins - can he sell the job?
Iâm just morbidly curious to see who his running mate ends up being. Probably gonna have to be someone considered a better candidate to take over than Palin was. McCain was just old. Trump is a total fucking loose cannon.
It doesnât sound like Hillary meant to suggest that Chelsea was right there at the WTC at the time. She certainly never said that Chelsea going into the coffee shop saved her life. Saying âshe went out for coffee and then the plane hitâ does give the inaccurate impression that it hit before she got home, but strictly speaking itâs still true- the plane didnât hit before she went for coffee. The stuff about going for a jog might have just been what Chelsea would have normally planned to do. The interview with Chelsea doesnât say what she would have done that day if not for the attack.
the only person on his level: The running mate of D Trump will be D Trump.
Nah, itâs usually much more gladhanding when the cameras are off.
Have you seen the names mentioned?
Nobody with any hope of a political career after this cycle will touch it with a bargepole.
So, someone like Christie or Gingrich, or a real arsehole like Sessions or Pence.
Or Ivanka, natch.
Even money itâs Ivanka.
That would be funny as hell.
I wonder what sheâd be like as president?
Thatâs the popular vote, which weâve used to decide Presidential elections exactly zero times. Nate Silver put the odds of HRC winning over Trump at 78% to 22%. Crush.
(Note: Quote misdirected. I believe the quote is from @ActionAbe. Probably a BBS error.)
Weird. My original attempt grabbed your profile instead of Abeâs, so I canceled it, and searched for his original post, which is what I used to quote from. Donât know why it still pointed to you.
It happens a bit here and there. I think this is the first one attributed to me though.
