Donald Trump threatens protesters while promoting Oklahoma campaign rally during pandemic

Curfews, 1st amendment “zones”, requiring a permit for a demonstration, and on and on. The number of ways communities try to stifle the first amendment is endless.

They’ve been doing this in OK for at least a decade. When “W” came to Oklahoma State, the area for “legal protest” was several blocks from the stadium. It didn’t stop people with anti-corporate flags and whatnot from still getting in, but when they displayed them, ushers quickly escorted them out.

I don’t hate to say it - OK is a shithole.

So far, the curfew is only affecting Trump supporters: no camping in line, no partying the night before the rally.

It seems more like a CV-19 public health measure rather than aimed at demonstrations. If the Trumpistas want to think that it keeps away the Antifa Supersoldiers, fine.

The curfew will again take effect after the rally until 6 a.m. Sunday.

In fact, it sounds like a Sundown law against the Trump rally. :grinning:

Maybe he will do a reenactment of Glass of Watergate?

Re: protesters… Seems like a good place to be far away from this weekend, for health reasons alone.

LOL! that’s so appropriate of a comparison, though Hedley Lamarr was much more competent.

I’d liken donny to the Governor, William J. Le Petomane. Inept and philandering, plus the provenance for the name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Pétomane

From french, it means The Farting Maniac. That’s our president for sure, talking out his ass as always.

First time in 20+ years of internetting where I LITERALLY laughed out loud.

What was life like Jan 20, 2017 to Jan 20, 2021?

Every conscious second of every day wondering: “How is this reality?”

If it’s a ticketed event, why are people camping out?

Edited for spelling

Because it’ll really be first-come, first-seated? They’ve issued far more tickets than the venue can hold. (Even allowing for Trump’s exaggeration.)

But Trump has continued to hype up the rally, where masks will be optional, claiming Monday that “Almost One Million people” had requested tickets for the rally, which will be held in a 19,000-seat venue.

Aha. Thanks. What a weird way to run the event.
With trump’s latest comments about masks, no one will be wearing one. I hope the rest of the city will be ok.

As I’ve said, I think that curfew is more about making sure that the rally-goers arrive on the day, have the rally, and then get out of town before sundown.

The people who live in Tulsa can stay indoors while The Purge is going on.

I can’t say that I like Trump supporters, but this is going to be horrible murder for many.

In a just world, as soon as the last speaker ends their speach, and people walk out of the convention center, there would be a line of cops with pepper spray and rubber bullets firing into the crowd, delivering beat downs and loading up the paddy wagons. The ONN reports getting arrested on air. Elected officals getting pepper sprayed.

Except they only do that to people from the left. Weird coincidence…

He likely already planned a press release that blames protesters for that.

“Ninja Antifa attacked the Rally with Covid bombs, some people are saying. China! Momentum!”

Everyone being beaten and oppressed equally is not justice.
In a just world, those things don’t happen to anyone.

If it happened to everyone equally, it would soon happen to no one equally.

Would this meet the parameters of threatening violence for Twitter? I’m wondering if it might be worth reporting it? I wonder if it might be a tiny chance to extinguish his flame, one tweet at a time.

I think of this all the time.

Remember all the times you didn’t think about Obama during his tenure?

When you did think about him, it may not have always been great, but at least his existence did not require your constant thought.
