Elections 2021 and 2022

Seems like a bad idea to delay this. I sure hope they know what they’re doing.

The cynical answer would be “sending a message to the LGBTQ+ community that the only way to protect marriage equality is to show up en masse to support Democrats this November.”

Shouldn’t that disqualify him? That’s what we did with a moderate Dem Nick Kristof who lived and voted in New York until the moment he decided to run for Oregon governor. Kicked him to the curb.

I think he meets the requirements of 7 years residency because he attended school for a few years here & again when he taught at the War College in Carlisle, PA for a few. He finished that job in 2017, according to Wikipedia.

Ah. Yes, different rules then. In Oregon, the residency requirement isn’t as long but it has to be continuous and immediately before running.

Residency doesn’t need to be current, or even 7 years in a row? Yikes.

That’s pretty crazy, but I come fron a state that may not have more than one year residency requirement (thinking in-state tuition.

And yep, our Secretary of State’s office changed it in 2021 because they felt a state residency requirement violated the U.S. Constitution. :grinning:

The Libertarian Party true believers are realising that the party has been co-opted by fascists.

Yes, but they will still vote R. At least the ones I know.

We’ll see.

I don’t think it is the ones who will vote R who are leaving.

There has been a recent increase in people talking about agorism, left-rothbardian libertarianism and market anarchism*, which suggests that there is a split going on within the Libertarian Party and other libertarian-capitalist groups.

I suspect that most of the libertarians who are open to socialist ideas like mutualism have already moved away from the party. This is the left-capitalists realising that they can’t have their ideal world while working with fascists, and I don’t know how or if they will vote. What is clear is that the Libertarian Party is turning into a overtly fascist party a bit more every day, and as that happens they will lose members who can’t or won’t do the doublethink anymore.

* In the places I read it’s usually in the context of them not really being left wing, as that would need them to reject capitalism to some degree. Market anarchism is ambiguous as it includes traditionally socialist ideas like mutualism, but most of the time over the last 6 months it has come up in a capitalist context. Mutualists tend to call themselves mutualists, even if some of the newcomers are uncomfortable about calling themselves socialists at the moment.

Thank you for that. Enlightening.

Trump was campaigning for a number of his endorsed candidates at his “Save America” rally, including Ohio GOP Senate candidate J.D. Vance, who is leading his rival Democratic Representative Tim Ryan by only 2.7 average percentage points

Herschel Walker tells the truth!!

“ I am getting out talking to people and talking to you (referring to the media),” said Walker. “I’m a country boy. I’m not that smart. He’s a preacher. (Warnock) is smart and wears these nice suits. So, he is going to show up and embarrass me at the debate Oct. 14th, and I’m just waiting to show up and I will do my best.”

Apparently smart enough to take a cue from Tromp, who “loves the uneducated.”
