Epstein confidante Ghislaine Maxwell arrested by FBI

She probably would have done better in Bedford if she had stripped herself of any lavish exterior signals like nice clothes, jewelry, hairdos, etc. Nobody up there does their hair, really, especially now during Covid. Does she have an accent? If so, that would give her away. I haven’t heard her speak.

It will be interesting to find out what her connection to such a rural place is, and where she was apprehended. Was it down in the tiny town at the store at 8:30 am? Or was it at a residence? Whose was it? Where in town was it? That is such a small town that she was either in town trying to shop or something, or she was remote and holed up. If it was remote, then it was someone, like AFOAF who ratted her out and I sure do wonder how all that went down.

Dear rob_dobbs,
Flynn (perhaps) has been delivered but Ms. Maxwell’s cross is about to be hoisted.

According to the BBC report she bought the property there using cash, to avoid identification. It was a 146 acre property. Plenty of privacy, one assumes.

I spent a looooooot of time in Sunapee in my earlier years. The whole region has a pretty small year-round population, decreasing the closer you get to the lake itself. In typical New England fashion, everyone knows everyone else’s business and the presence of an obvious outsider - even one living on a fairly remote, large property - wouldn’t go unnoticed for long.

Its possible the FBI had her boxed up. Crossing a border would trigger an arrest so she tried to lay low.

Well THAT’S not flying under the radar. That’s a pretty noob mistake. Town listers and lots of other people will visit you throughout the year.

Maxwell was a terrible person, but the Mossad connection was debunked in the Galloway libel trial and is one of those standard ways of “othering” Jewish public figures that occasionally creeps out of unsavoury conspiracy cellars.

I thought of that, but I also think that the Feds had plenty of time to observe who she came into contact with, eavesdrop on her, look for unknown connections, generally look for clues in her behavior as to where evidence might be hidden, etc.

Thanks for the correction. I did not know that and will keep it in mind.

Maybe, and/or maybe she thought it would be easier to blend in in the US.

It’s interesting she got caught during a crisis when she had a perfect excuse to wear a mask in public. Makes my wonder if someone she knew tipped off the FBI.

That’s not how I read this:

I don’t think that is a substantiated fact.

Given Donny Boy’s history with hookers, porn starlets, and desperate teenyboppers, it’s quite believable.

Fortunately he’s dead now so he can’t sue Wikipedia for libel, but in any event that is a far cry from “outed as an Israeli intelligence agent”. There is quite a lot of court evidence to the contrary.

These accusations surface all too often when there is controversy around someone who is in power and who is also Jewish. It is the old “dual allegiance” trope from the antisemitic playbook, and some of us find it deeply upsetting.

Conspiracy stuff is fun, and the current political climate is like “hey, right now I can believe anything”. But I would feel much better if no-one would build up CT involving stuff which could be seen as anti-Semitism in disguise.

I do not accuse you of anti-Semitism, mind. I would just ask everyone to be very careful about this, because you could inadvertently give people anti-Semitism. And a mask doesn’t help against that, but careful posts do.

This needs to be repeated.

Even the appearance (impression? non-native speaker here) of antisemitism must be prevented. If anyone has evidence of an intelligence involvement that can be cited. The stance

can be perceived as being right out of the textbook of Nazi propaganda. “The bolschewistisch-jüdische Weltverschwörung is secret, so everyone involved of course tries to appear normal.”

Seriously, just stop argueing in that line. It is a no-go zone.

I’m not sure she was in hiding from the FBI, so much just staying out of the public eye. In fact, I wonder if she had advance warning that she would be arrested. The well-to-do are often given a courtesy warning and time to get their affairs in order.

Reminds me of John Perry Barlow’s description of living in small-town Wyoming “You don’t need to use your turn signal because everybody already knows where you’re going.”
