Well, the whole thing about him clearing the money changers out of the temple, that was most certainly new testament, though… The whole money changers out of the temple stuff was part of a larger historical narrative of the tensions between Jews and the roman empire in Jerusalem… the historical Jesus might have been a Jewish zealot bent on revolutionary action…

Did you ever think you’d see Republicans and Christian evangelicals bending over backwards to defend Arab Muslims this much?

You’re working under the assumption that this is new. This is who and what he is, and has been. His congregation listens to him because this is what that want to hear.

It was probably 20 years ago now that I turned on the TV for football or something and saw the end of the 700 club. Some supreme court decision went the “wrong” way so he prayed for the justices’ death. Not, you know, let them see the path, light, yadda yadda yadda, just for them to be killed. Sounded damn near a call for assassinations.

Yes, because they have no consistent views on this stuff - it’s all about geopolitics, and the religious aspect is just a means to reinforce that.

Your exhortation is good, but I think you’re sending it in the wrong direction. If Pat reaches the Pearly Gates when he dies, it’s only going to be so Saint Peter can pull the lever and send him through a trapdoor to his final destination. [Even a saint could use some entertainment once in a while.]

But he says that like it would be a bad thing to torpedo selling arms to a murderous bunch of royalists. Oh, and they are muslim!__

More like the temple needs a good cleansing and some old school separating the sheep from the goats…

How about people who turn his father’s house in to a market place? Oops, maybe Pat Robertson had better watch his back.

Just for reference, here’s a UK Christian singer/songwriter chiming on on the subject of Pat Robertson.
(Greenbelt is a Christian music festival, but it’s definitely on the inclusive, liberal end of the spectrum, as will become obvious fairly quickly from the clip.)

NPR reached the same conclusion, that the $110 billion figure trump gave (which is probably where Robertson got it) was “aspirational, a kind of wish list”.
