Infinitely long inside – you’re thinking of “the Way,” the 7th chamber of the Thistledown habitat/spaceship, from Greg Bear’s Eon and Eternity books.
That’s right, Eon. Rama is still bigger than those in the graphic…
Edit:
And at 233,000 meters (avg), is definitely the largest (not even including it’s infinite “way”)
yeah, i get it, he was restricted to the ones he could get at least approximate stats on (which is going to be partly connected to what he has watched thoroughly).
really, the only problem i have is the “every sci-fi spaceship,” “mind-blowing” headline; it’s not even close. admittedly, i don’t share the surveyor’s taste in media, but that’s not a problem.
Even larger? Mongul’s Warworld, from DC Comics, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like.
Oh, well. At least he finally added in some stuff from Mass Effect.
Didn’t see the DSV-2, the “Liberator”, from Blake’s 7. Zen!
Serenity is there from memory (bottom left, just to the right of the ID4 ship) but it’s not really recognisable, probably because it’s a side view of it.Hard to see much detail of it.
I thought that nobody had mentioned this, thanks.
I think it’s the biggest ship, or ‘kind of ship’ that’s built from… well, metal.
Edit: LOL, I genuinely read that as ‘Waterworld’. Several times.
Nope. You right. BANG. Pop-cultural headshot!
But I think I get a ‘non-print’ exclusionary Hail Mary.
I guess if Dyson Spheres count then we really are still thinking small.
Delights abound in the poster and in this thread, but ultimately I’m sad…for all the motion pictures (and their ships) I’m not going to see in this life:
- Ringworld, Fleet of Worlds, Mote in God’s Eye, Footfall ;
- Dragonriders of Pern, Crystalsinger ;
- Eon, Eternity, Anvil of Stars ;
- Heretics of Dune, Destination: Void, The Dosadi Experiment
I’ve only got about 15 years left on this planet, and none of these are in any stage of production. Curses! for not becoming a zillionaire when I had the chance.
