Model: (answers phone) Who dis?
Agent: It’s me, Diane, your AGENT. Remember?
Model: Um…kinda?
Agent: Listen, never mind. I got you a gig. National brand. Major exposure.
Model: Yeah? Who with?
Agent: You sitting down? (dramatic pause)
I used to work at a Taco Bell, right as they introduced the mini-churros, which were only around for a brief time. They came in big bags, and prior to being dropped in the deep fat fryer, looked exactly like spiral macaroni. I remember wondering if I could bring in my own macaroni from home and see if they would fry up like that. Same principle for shrimp chips.
Why is this racist statement still here? Where is the moderator?
I believe that comment was intended sarcastically, but at the very least a sarcasm tag is in order.
Lighten up, Francis.
I disagree. I didn’t detect any sarcasm.
Ah, back in the day when Colbert was funny and decent! - before he became corporatist shill. May he rot in Hell.
That’s how I read it too.
As a Black person, I try not to be hypersensitive about anything involving race, but I’m still pretty adept at determining comments which are intended to be offensive to Black folks from mere snark.
Suppose you’re thinkin’ about chips of shrimp. Suddenly someone’ll say, like, “chips”, or “shrimp”, or “chips of shrimp” out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin’ for one, either. It’s all part of a cosmic unconsciousness.
“Is that a cartoon cheetah bursting from between your legs,
or are you just happy to see me?”
It ain’t easy being cheesy.
Hey everyone… I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say… this works. As much as I want to resent it for being corporate… It kinda works. Of course the model is making it work, but that’s kinda how almost all non-conservative fashion is. If you can get away with wearing something ridiculous and make it look good, more power to you.
Let’s be honest, she could be wearing a burlap sack, and still be looking good. The cheetowear is incidental in this case.
Um… Yeah. While you may be joking, just in case you aren’t:
EVERY performer on every show on an ad-supported channel (such as Comedy Central) is, and always will be, a “corporatist shill” in at least some manner. That’s simply how they pay the bills, including payroll.
In keeping with BBs promotion of Happy Mutants and makers, this might hit the crosspoint for pretty people, Cheetos (blech ) and DIY, albeit with a pretty awesome kitchen setup:
