Florida man charged with “Carrying concealed firearm”.
It looks like no charges for pulling a gun on kids while calling them racial slurs.
Also, no word on whether the kids will be interviewed on the Today show.

Honestly, how do people who work in mass media companies fall for PR from PR firms?

The press will always fall for paid content and PR firms for the same reason that it’s easier to get a pizza delivered than to go to the grocery store and come home and cook. Especially when that pizza is free.
