Ford Ranger murdered by boulder

As a person who loads pallets of tile onto trucks on a regular basis I would estimate the boulder to be equal to two pallets of tile, or 1.5 to 2 tons. I would have told the guy to bring a bigger truck or pound sand. Not worth it to destroy someones truck.

Density of granite is about 2.75 g/cm^3. So, not a lot more that what I estimated.

Yeah, agree. I actually meant to estimate the length of the block as longer than I did, which would have put my guess more like 2 tons. So we are both figuring 1.5 to 2 tons. And yeah, way over the truck’s design limit.

I’d expect the truck’s capacity to be a bit higher than that. 500 pounds would be less than 250 kg, which is the size or two big or three average adults.

Actual rated load capacity appears to be about 1,000kg.
