Fuck Elon Musk (Part 1)

Mastodon links are apparently now banned on Twitter as well.:peach:

Yep. They havenā€™t blacklisted every server, but it isnā€™t just in the profile. People on Mastodon are reporting they cannot post links (though URL shorteners work). It looks like Mastodon links as your location havenā€™t been caught.

Great summary at talkingpointsmemo. Itā€™s short, but hereā€™s the money quote:

Broken, petulant, emotionally stunted rich white men are nothing new. What might be new is that decades of regressive tax policy, feckless anti-trust enforcement, and market worship by policymakers have created an untethered and unaccountable new billionaire class.

One would think that a super genius Wharton grad would know how to shift ownership of the jet to some innocuous shell corporation if they were really concerned about safety.

As I type this, Tesla stock is at 150.24. I was guessing that margin calls might start at 150. Might be FO time soon.

My knowledge of the market is pretty scarce. What exactly does this mean?

Heā€™d have to change the tail number (or the plane), and that would only last until paparazzi got a long shot of him boarding that plane and its tail number.

Some kind of crypto scheme to obscure the tail number from the general public in its position broadcasts might be possible, but that would mean so many changes to equipment and international aviation safety regulations that ā€¦ nope.

He could play the shell game: have a fleet of jets, frequently moving, so that no one could be sure if or which plane he was on.

Heā€™s been using his Tesla stock as collateral on loans. The banks get all twitchy if it gets too low, and theyā€™re going to want more stock or cash.

Three jets registered to ā€œFalcon Landing, LLCā€ according to Jack Sweeney. Gwynn Shotwell is also a member of it.

But most private jets operate from a separate part of the airport and are on the secure side of the facility. Theyā€™re not going to be on the tarmac where youā€™re boarding- at least at any large airport.

Poor job of hiding his assets then.

The point of having a private jet is having people know that you have a private jet, so as always, it is a problem with him, not with the tracking system or anything else
