Along these same lines,

A Michigan school district has banned students from bringing backpacks to school after a third grade student brought a loaded handgun to campus – the second time that it has happened in the last two weeks.

Yeah, let’s not talk about how these kids got these guns.

i would have assumed they like scan with a metal detector before going into an mri.

like what happens if you’ve got a needle or some shotgun pellets lodged into you. ( hey, don’t judge me! )

well… okay, if not me, don’t judge my friends. i’m metal free. i think.

Been through 4-5 MRIs in my life (so far), and only been wanded (handheld metal-detector) once. The other times, they just asked and I told them because I know what MRIs do and don’t want to end up a less X-rated version of that guy. So I guess it depends on the facility.

WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK!!!

Holy shit, that is horrendous!! And wow, he was incredibly lucky. Stupid, but lucky.

@gatto, I unfortunately have a lot of experience with MRIs over hte last 5 years and have watched an interesting evolution, from just asking to getting wanded to now a wall-mounted thingy that we have to pirouette in front of. Yup, at least here they don’t trust nobody.

Also fuck this reporting. Putting what areas and people would be affected by this front and center in the story seems to be missing. It’s an interesting factoid to point out “hundreds of thousands of” people were displaced in 1927, but how many live there now? :woman_facepalming:t4:

In Indiana, we have a bunch of living-in-the-general-area-but-not-neighbors rabble rousing about the fact that some farmers are choosing to add solar and/or wind turbines on their own property. How dare they? Do they think this is a capitalistic society or something? Funny how all of a sudden they want to live in a socialist collective.
