One of the statistics they don’t include in the fact that at every moment of pregnancy, an abortion is the safer option than continuing the pregnancy from a medical point of view, is that the number one killer while pregnant is one’s partner rather than any medical cause.

A new vent opened up in the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma during the night of October 1, this time at the base of the volcano on the north west side. The Spanish Geological Institute seem to be sacrificing drones to get gob-smacking video overflights, including one where the drone was getting pummeled by flying volcanic rock. (Although I suspect a grad student got in trouble for that…)
I was struck by this one of a house that I’m sure the owners thought possibly spared, now sitting on a little island in a lava river. The new lava flow is torching a path just to the north of the previous flow.

Personal note: fuck today. If a meeting tomorrow is not going to give a perspective, I’m calling in sick leave. Therapist appointment Tuesday, but can’t get the high frequency support there I need. Fuck the pandemic, it makes everything worse. Therapists are overwhelmed.
I’m logging off the BBS, phone’s going to be repaired, hopefully. Might be a while. Will miss it, and venting here
ETA: I might even have trouble reconnecting - I have 2FA enabled. Last time it took me days to get my perimeter measures in order, and 2FA was not making things easier.
