Generic 2016 US Election Cycle Recycling Bin

Establishment or not, yelling “Fuck Off” at someone, then tweeting “She tweeted this at me” to all of your followers when you get a reaction is disingenuous trollish assholery.

No doubt.

But I don’t think Presidential candidates should really be getting into twitter fights.

Or, indeed, tweeting stupid stuff about Donald Trump’s foreign policy being less scary. If it is, it’s only by virtue of him not really having anything well-defined enough to count as a policy (although I’m sure whatever it is, it’ll be great, the best, huge foreign policy, you’ll see).

To be fairish he was responding to a tweet from Jill Stein inferring Hillary wants to start a war with Russia.

Perhaps Stein has been spending too much time around her insane running mate. Or maybe she needs to turn down the radio power in her home wireless router.

Confederate flag guy assaulting an LGBT person with the tagline of “TRUMP 2016”.

Wow.

Someone not only thought of that, but thought that it was a good idea to produce and sell, and another person thought that it was worth buying.

Stay classy, USA.

I had a brief glimmer of hope it was about fighting radical confederates.

One last post for tonight and then I need to sleep…

I don’t know why it’s not in a onebox. I’ll try to edit it tomorrow.

Eta: it still won’t work. Basically, state police have seized thousands of voter registration forms, looking for fraud. So far only 10 forms have been found to be irregular. The problem is, (as explained on the comments below the article) all the other forms have yet to be returned, leaving those applicants unregistered and disenfranchised. This is why the advocacy group is accusing Pence of voter suppression.

I didn’t notice the text underneath at first and thought it was a ‘Vote Democrat’ sticker. That’s some serious Poe slaw right there.

So, I came across this story in wired:

Essentially, what Assange wants to do is to impose a “secrecy tax”. If your organization relies on secrecy, it shouldn’t be allowed to operate with the the same level of efficiency as organizations that don’t need secrets.

On the other hand, there is this report from the New Republic

Michael Froman, who is now U.S. trade representative but at the time was an executive at Citigroup, wrote an email to Podesta on October 6, 2008, with the subject “Lists.” Froman used a Citigroup email address. He attached three documents: a list of women for top administration jobs, a list of non-white candidates, and a sample outline of 31 cabinet-level positions and who would fill them. “The lists will continue to grow,” Froman wrote to Podesta, “but these are the names to date that seem to be coming up as recommended by various sources for senior level jobs.”
The cabinet list ended up being almost entirely on the money. It correctly identified Eric Holder for the Justice Department, Janet Napolitano for Homeland Security, Robert Gates for Defense, Rahm Emanuel for chief of staff, Peter Orszag for the Office of Management and Budget, Arne Duncan for Education, Eric Shinseki for Veterans Affairs, Kathleen Sebelius for Health and Human Services, Melody Barnes for the Domestic Policy Council, and more. For the Treasury, three possibilities were on the list: Robert Rubin, Larry Summers, and Timothy Geithner.
This was October 6. The election was November 4.

On the one hand, it shows a certain level of professionalism, of preparedness, and desire not to waste time. On the other hand, it does betray a certain contempt for people outside the inner circle. Certainly, the Presidency does rely on certain amount of centralized, even personal power. But broad coalitions elect presidents, and I’m not sure that all the members of the Obama coalition were thinking about cabinet positions in early October.

http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2016/10/17/wikileaks-says-assanges-internet-link-was-severed-by-state-party.html#
Gizmodo noted that the 64-character codes sparked a whirlwind of rumors that the 45-year-old Assange had died. Rumors on Reddit and Twitter said the numbers triggered a so-called “dead man’s switch,” which could be enacted in case Assange did die. Gizmodo reported that such switches do exist.

WikiLeaks hasn’t tweeted anything else about Assange’s Internet access or how it may have been “severed.”

Various U.S. officials and pundits have made threatening statements directed at Assange in the past. WikiLeaks tweeted in early October an alleged 2010 quote from then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asking if Assange could be killed in a drone strike, and, that same year, former Democrat strategist Bob Beckel said on Fox News Channel that “a dead man can’t leak stuff.” This month, “specific information” prompted Assange to scrap a dramatic London balcony address to celebrate WikiLeaks’ 10th anniversary.

Assange also has hinted that deceased DNC staffer Seth Rich may have been a secret source for WikiLeaks. Rich, 27, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds to the back at a Washington, D.C., intersection in July. He died soon thereafter. Authorities believe Rich was the target of a botched robbery; however, odd circumstances surrounding his death have invited conspiracy theories.
Fox News is really going all in lately.

I’ve heard the delay in confirming Garland called unconstitutional. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. “Advice” should be well-thought-out, after all.

Refusing to do that duty altogether, for an entire presidential term? That sounds clearly unconstitutional.

I can’t “like” this stuff you’re posting. I need a banana icon. Just Look At It.

Please, please, please, please, please tell me the flag guy putting the boot in on the rainbow guy is a shoop, and that is not a real sticker real people really buy. Please.
