Sheesh…talk about putting all right out there on front street!
He might be correct, but man do the Germans know how to spin things into a sinister imperative.
Good. There needs to be a lot less pussyfooting around on this.
My Mother was German, to her core, no pussyfooting with that Gal. Can confirm.
Vell, das ist Spahn for you: not one for soft-pedaling when the situation is dire, and it IS getting dire. In some Länder (Saxony the worst offender) vaxxing is around 55% and not getting any higher. No wonder people are getting almighty fed up with this nincompoopery, also considering that this is very likely going to wreck Christmas.
Danke sehr, ya twits.
“recovered”, if you ignore long covid which is no joke.
So what is behind people not wanting the vaccine in Germany?
And above all, he’ll not be health minister any longer and leave all the fun to his successor in about 2 weeks.
They think Covid doesn’t affect them and is not as bad as the evil vaccination. The RKI (German CDC) calculated that 400 fatalities per day are already on their way, some 14 days after infection rates skyrocketing.
Yeah I get that they want to save as many lives as possible through vaccination but “every non-vaccinated person in the country will have contracted Covid-19 by this winter” seems like the kind of demonstrably false exaggeration that makes people distrust these kinds of public announcements.
There is the abbreviation in Germany in use for COVID: 3G = Geimpft/Genesen/Getestet (vaccinated, recovered, tested) or 2G (not vaccinated). There are many who do not want to be vaccinated, which is a problem. So he remarked, that at the end of winter there will be in any case anybody 3G = Geimpft/Genesen/Gestorben (vacinated, recovered, deceased). If you know this background, it is a good (dark) joke!
I take it that “Chaos Corona Club” is a pun on the
Except that by adding “…will have recovered…” as the in-between option, he kinda made a pretty bland statement, just in a very stark framing. The actual words seem to just cover his bases. In reality by leaving out long COVID, his pronouncement was actually kinda optimistic…
But still untrue. Come this Spring there will be a non-trivial number of Germans who are still unvaccinated and haven’t yet contracted the virus, and there will still be a need to get it through their thick skulls that they still need to get vaccinated.
also there’s a fair bit of evidence that infection doesn’t stop people from getting infected again
( hmmm… and i guess if boosters are needed for vaccination – anti-vaxers better be out there rustling up some extra infections to keep safe… the more you get infected the safer you are! /s )
No idea. A corrent joke is, they won’t vax because the federal gubmint wants them to. So, in order to promote vaccines and logical health choices, the higher-ups should slam a ban on all that! As soon as cycling, salads and immunization are deprecated & forbidden they’ll jump on 'em, just because.
And of course, politics. Sachsen and Thüringen are the least vaxxed, and the ones with the most votes for the repellent AfD, the extreme-right party. Which is bloviating about “the oppressive covid rules” or something, AND having their own voters die en masse, because logic.
But this is not a f++cking political football.
