Guy builds a gadget to blast loud music back at neighbors

I had a dorm-mate who played The Eagles’ first album for 8 hours at a time, fairly loudly. (The walls were so paper-thin you could hear page turning through them.) Everyone else said she refused to turn it down for them when they complained, but when I asked her (politely) to turn it down for an hour so I could take a nap, she did so. Later, I asked her and she said she turned it down for me because I was the only one who had asked politely – everyone else had shouted at her.
But, I ended up liking the album, and bought it after we graduated. I do not set it on repeat however.

Try some classical music. Beethoven’s Fifth? Night on Bald Mountain? Have you tried asking them politely to turn it down or off?

I’d like to like this. Unfortunately I’m out of likes.

BBS’ economy is broken, the like supply is too low to support a healthy exchange. A quantitative easing is paramount to stimulate our hearts-based market.

#FINISH HIM!

I think there’s an issue with the algorithm for likes within a certain time period, or some other time handling issue. I haven’t had the motivation to dig through the Discourse code yet.

No, although I should. When it’s going on I’m trying too hard to sleep, not wake up more by getting out of bed and leaving the house. Plus there’s a bit of a language barrier, as my Spanish is rusty. Fortunately winter is keeping things quiet and by springtime I’ll probably figure out what to say.

“turn the music down or I’ll invite myself to your party” is a helpful phrase (it can backfire, though. sometimes they actually invite you and the next day will be a very tired and drunken one)

“Porfavor, callate. Gente necesitan sueño. Gente tienen trabajos. Auriculares son muy barato.”

Of course, the problem with this idea is that the neighbors’ loud music is so loud that they probably won’t even be able to hear yours over theirs.
