I’m honestly fairly sympathetic to the position that political Catholicism is incompatible with American constitutional values(not just Catholicism, of course, pretty much any religion falls afoul of American constitutional values as soon as it goes beyond private observance and to political aspirations; Catholicism is just especially obvious because we have ~1000 years of European history to refer to if we want to see church/state chumminess going poorly); but anyone who fails to acknowledge that dangerous amounts of it are already here, already among ‘respectable’ sorts; is at substantial risk of being just a cynical user of this concern to whip up hysteria about hispanic immigrants(pretty much an exact replay of the period of anti-irish or anti-italian periods).

I’m a Army veteran and I have a AK47, 3 SKS’s, a Mosin-naggaunt, a Mauser 98, a Taurus .44 mag, a Breyco-Jennings 9MM and a few thousand rounds of ammo! I can also shoot better than any of these brain dead right-wingers! I am also a life long Democrat.

It’s really interesting how this manufactured dichotomy has played out. The right has invested so much in painting their side as hyper-masculine tough guys, borrowing a bunch of Hollywood character archetypes to support it (“veterans, cowboys and mountain men,” lol—how about throw in “also Judd Nelson from The Breakfast Club") and the left as castrated, feminized weaklings (of course, being the right, actual women don’t count for much at all), and all it has done is to disproportionately rally the insecure wannabes to their banner, guys who, as grown-ass adults, still deeply care about playground insults to their masculinity, where people with any actual strength of character have got things beyond the ends of their own noses to care about.
The good news is, there aren’t as many of them as they’d like to think, and those there are are less enthusiastic about going out and doing real violence than they pretend. Most of them, their whole complaint is built around pining for a past where the government did their violence for them so they don’t have to take direct responsibility. Scores of fizzled protests, with counter-protestors vastly outnumbering the primary audience, stand testament to that.
The bad news is how they’ve tacitly recognized the audience they naturally appeal to, and have dialed in their messaging for socially isolated teen boys online. We’re going to be untying the “edgelord” knot for years to come.
Either way, I expect anybody having wet dreams based loosely on Red Dawn is going to be mightily disappointed. I highly doubt Reverend Rambo here is going to be taking up arms himself, for instance.

The military largely hates his guts.
Trump has tried to use the military as political displays, ordered discrimination of its members, interfered with a war crimes trial, ignored efforts at research and preparation, attacked useful defense relationships with allies, cosied up with potential adversaries and sabre-rattled like an idiot.
They seem to be doing as little as possible for the guy
