…
And we don’t support losers…
She kicks ass and smiles the whole time, as if it’s nothing.
Yeah, the right has set up Psaki for a lot of nice zingers which get covered in exquisite detail here.
But when the left questions her and by extension Joe Biden on immigration and that small incident with Hatians getting whipped from horses, we’re back watching Sean Spicer again.
I get that we want to feel like things have changed for the better, but they haven’t. We just get to watch neoliberal flavored press conferences where our favorite press secretary is saying the heinous shit instead. Like, for example, insisting that we’ve addressed our offenses against Haitians by simply getting rid of the horses.
Jen’s subtle reminder to the WH yahoo right-wing “reporters” of what their god-emperor president amounted to.
Sounds like you’re disappointed
One big difference you fail to note: the left absolutely will take the Biden administration to task on their mistakes. When it came to Donnie McDumpster, the right lobbed soft balls all day long and never asked any real questions. The difference between real journalists and propagandists couldn’t be more obvious.
Jan isn’t remotely in the league of liars like Spicer, either. Yeah, she’s an administration employee, and will spin on the tough topics that her boss views as negatives, but she’s also going to tell truths, not create brand new lies that are demonstrably false. Spicer’s response to the horse whipping story would have been “it didn’t happen, and if it did, those folks got what they deserved because they came in the wrong way.”
That’s always been true, for better or worse.
Goodness, you’re right; we should never lift our eyes from the mud and look at the sky! Now then… where’d I leave my cilice and scourge?
The left don’t get invited into these press conferences. Liberals aren’t the left.
Very good point. The liberals in our country are centrists (at best, and as we’ve seen often to the right of center). As I told a friend, when you’re comparing politicians, AOC is closer to the center than a guy like Manchin, despite him and the press asserting his “centrism.”
Exactly.
The left is anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist.
Liberals are pro-capitalist and pro-imperialist.
I mostly agree, but Tankies are pro red-imperialist and anti western-imperialist. They’re the exception, but they are loud and shout their opinions everywhere
“Clorox. For those times when you REALLY want to whitewash your response to a pandemic.”
I’ll rephrase it as, “when the reporters in the white house press room accidentally ask a question that the left would ask, perhaps expecting that the white house wanted them to ask it and had a good answer prepared”
All that shows is that the new press secretary is a more effective propagandist, because we’re more inclined to take her seriously. Hell, that’s what the original topic is all about – we’re basically celebrating her.
Do you really think that just because all the problems haven’t been solved yet, that things haven’t changed for the better? Seems overly binary and simplistic, and bordering on fatalistic.
Some things have, but we’ve preserved the immigration policy from the last administration, and since we haven’t addressed any of the material conditions that lead Trump to be elected in the first place, I think we’re likely to see him again. I see this as a pyrrhic victory at best.
should I mention that I am awaiting the cast iron to hit me in the facia…
let alone anybody else…
but we know that does not herald a specific difference
