At the end of the day, that’s almost the best situation.
The President is not a king. They should not have all the power. The Executive Branch has an enormous amount of power, but at least if it is diluted amongst various Secretaries, and them being good at their jobs, you end up with a functioning branch that will undoubtly internally squabble now and then but moves forward. Trump wanted everyone to kowtow to him, which they did in those nauseating press conferences, but that’s not how a government works.
No one knows everything, nor is an expert in all disciplines. It makes so much more sense to hire people really skilled at a given task and let them do it.
That said, I can only assume her previous job involved talking toddlers out of candy and cookies, because she’s really good at slapping down these childish taunts.

After the flip book of Trump Press Secretaries, it’s hard to remember that. Fox was used to bypassing them all the time, so I bet it’s very hard for them. “Tonight I’ll just call your … oh yeah, oops.”
