Kentucky woman launches into racist rant against other shoppers, who ignore her

I don’t think we’re gonna be able to get this done. While I’m usually game for a healthy sparring, I’m just not up to it right now.

Peace

An interesting analogy, in that the cold has to cure itself, the “medication” tends towards placebo.

now it seems you’re trying to walk back your concession by conflating two separate ways of reacting. i would not react to her or anyone else speaking in a racist manner in public by bringing up trump, i would address the racist speech directly and on the basis that it is offensive and impolite. in our conversation here about what is driving the recent uptick in public racism, as opposed to the private racism i have described upthread, i do believe that the election of a trump has made the racists among us feel more empowered to say publicly what they thought privately than they did prior to the election. until you started walking it all back with the comment to which i am replying right now your comment above seemed to be conceding as much. that however, is a meta- discussion which i would not be having with someone being publicly racist.

As much as the mental picture of Trump cowering while being stomped under AntiFa or La Raza boot pleases me, this post still distresses me a bit.

I wholeheartedly endorse both these posts

Yeah, I don’t think that the words with the biggest fists behind them should be the ones winning.

Or that racist women exist because racism hasn’t been beaten out of them.

My initial comment was a reaction/observation where Trump was invoked. It just seemed a bit lazy and trite. Just like people who blame anythign bad happening on Obama (see “Thanks, Obama!”) While I agree his election has some effect, I think we shouldn’t put too much weight on it because he is the result of the underlying disease. Things won’t magically get better in 4 years (or sooner if impeached).

And my most recent comment was after considering things over the day.

My points and observations don’t always stay static. My initial comment can “walk around” a bit as time does on. A good discussion should have thoughts that move around and try different angles some times. I don’t always do that, but some times some thought and reflection on a discussion will lead to something new. Which is a good thing, as otherwise there is no discussion, it is just people posting talking points with nothing changing.

Realistically I’m not seeing anything wrong with that Mother Jones article?

Looks like she is well fed with junk food

She and her particular ilk MAY be the aliens. An invasion!

I wish. The potential for hatred is just as human as love.

Not how any cold medicine I’ve taken has worked, though.

Humanity is where the falling angel meets the rising ape.

Which one to blame is a matter of personal preference.

Thus, cutting a cake, where taking a larger piece reduces the amount of cake available for others, is a zero-sum game if all participants value each unit of cake equally

No parties involved on any side believe their slice of the pie is equal. If they did we wouldn’t have the amount of social/racial/economic tensions we do.

Alternatively, not everyone believes that equal shares are a desirable goal.
