And since stereotypes are of concern I should point out I’m a 70 year old white man and I’d feed my arms to the hogs before I’d let my hand make a vote for trump. Boomer’s, gen X’s, Millennials, who gives a rats ass…If ya got a good heart that what counts and labels don’t mean squat. I’m back in the Peruvian Amazon again and today my 10 year old grandson asked if the USA was really gonna build a wall to keep people “like me” out…That is just totally fucked up that an alleged world leader would say something so vile and debased. I’d argue with you that it’s extremely unlikely that this knuckle dragger will ever realize just how pathetically ignorant and insignificant her existence really is.
She truly believes that this non-existent fantasy world where she, the poor undertrodden white christian, must stand up to the ungodly furriner masses to preserve “real America”. There’s no convincing her otherwise, I’m afraid. And no self realization or insight on the horizon that would perhaps cause some self improvement.

@Lucy_Gothro: The one in Michigan is tiny and quaint, and has a nice harbor with a cute little lighthouse. And a Dairy Queen very close to the marina. Possibly a higher percentage of white people than the one in Kentucky.

I know, they have what I’ve heard is a decent blues festival up there.
Remember, I’ve lived in MI all of my life, except for those four years in KY (the Jelly State, lol). There’s parts I haven’t seen, of course, but I grew up fascinated by maps. And road signs. We often wouldn’t take the expressways because you don’t see much on expressways. My family travelled a lot throughout the state before my dad’s jerkhood came into full-flower. Then, my mom did the driving to relatives’ houses if we were going to stay for a few days or a week (either Lansing or Owendale).

I don’t think such things were so rarely said out loud. Uncommon, yes, but this shit happens every day long before Trump was running for president.
It appears to be happening more with the empowerment, but it was always there.
I prefer to not just blame Trump as a knee jerk reaction, however. 1) As much as he stirred the pot, racism was always here. 2) It politicizes the issue. People will dismiss any criticism of her because, “Oh you just hate Trump, that’s why you’re saying this.” The political tribal split is so severe and contributes to so much cognitive dissonance that we need to wake people up and shake them saying, “It doesn’t matter if the other political party is awful or not, this isn’t ok.” IMO, this is best accomplished focusing on the specific bad things, saying such things are bad, and not blaming Trump or what ever else. This isn’t to say that Trumps rise ISN’T partly responsible. But attacking that beast together with racism is a losing battle.
Don’t believe me? I have heard 8 years of how awful Obama was in some circles. I am numb to it. There are people who would hold their breath and pass out if Obama told everyone to take good, deep breaths. Look around and analyze yourself. Any issue even half way politicized people start splitting off into camps. They don’t think about what is right or wrong, it degenerates into us vs them.
And note - this is coming from the angle of wanting people to be better to each other. So while you may feel this is letting some people off lightly, it is my feeling this is the best approach to confront people that won’t be instantly filtered out.
