"Kraken" MAGA lawyer Sidney Powell pleads guilty to Georgia election subversion case, will testify against Trump

Trump’s TV conman pitch about why his New and Improved 4-K KKK is so much better and stronger than the old 3-K* KKK is writing itself in my head…

*3K of course also what NY decided to call its expansion of universal Prekindergarten to cover 3 year olds, against all the obvious objections, which have been made…

I wonder if this means I have to go back on FB and find all the previous arguments where I was informed Powell would be presently releasing Krakens/dropping truth bombs, and see if the MAGA types are amending that prediction.

She strikes me as the dumbest member of the Klown Kar Kabal, so that makes her marginally less culpable, maybe? Although actually taking the deal may actually mean that she is not as stupid as she appears. I’m guessing that she will try to weasel out of her testimony and claim innocene after pleading guilty. .

I can’t help but be reminded ot the “robosigning” scandal during RE crash. Many lawyers filed affidavits that they should have known were false and paperwork that can only reasonably be explained by forgery. And tried to get out of sanctions by saying that they were just signators and not affidants. There should have been a large number of disbarments., but there weren’t.

Ms. Powell played chicken with the prosecution and blinked first, winning the ‘prize’ of a reduced sentence in exchange for her testimony and other support. Chesbro is next in line, and DH and I predict that if he doesn’t flip, the prosecution will happily make an example chew toy of him.

Oooh thanks for the detailed information - looks like I need more popcorn.

I’m guessing Trump’s lawyers are going to try throwing “attorney-client privilege” against the wall and see if it sticks to prevent her from testifying. I’m no lawyer but based on Wikipedia I suspect either the “crime-fraud” or the “defending themselves against disciplinary or legal proceedings” exceptions should block that objection.

Sidney Powell, testifying against Donald Trump:

“And then he said, I don’t know, some bullshit. None of us were really listening.”

I find it marginally reassuring that she could be more grifter than looner if the deal turns out to have any value. Eyes on the prize.

Trumpism, minus the Orange Oaf himself, will be some harder nuts to crack.

$6K is nothing. I think she should cough up the costs for whatever hearing/trial costs were incurred from her lawsuit. Or was it more than one?

She’s still being sued by Dominion Voting Systems for $1.3 Billion in that defamation case so I think she’s got bigger financial liabilities to worry about anyway.

And she’s not going to have it easy. 6 years of probation is a long time. She’ll have all kinds of conditions on her restricting her travel, what she can say, and who she can associate with. (No associating with known criminals is gonna be a tough one!) There’s a low bar for revoking probation which would mean a straight line to prison.

She fucked around and found out.

Powell is a big catch. She’s got a lot of direct knowledge of who said what and where, and she was first in line so she’ll get the best deal. I would imagine others will be less lucky with any plea deals they can muster.

The Fulton DA’s office knows what they are doing.

Maybe they won’t get Trump into an orange jumpsuit, but all the fruits of this case can be used by Jack Smith as well.

I actually think that once Trump is out of the picture - either by going to prison or by kicking the bucket, all the magats will disperse.

There will be some efforts by clowns like De Santis and others to try to recapture that bottle of crazy ass lightning, but they are so hopeless at it they will fizzle out.

I strongly suspect there are a large number of Republicans who hope to survive into the post-Trump era and then pretend they never bowed to lick his boots.

Yeah, hopefully this is helpful for the Jack Smith case. It’s a shame that she may not be forced to testify in the Federal case as part of this deal (and maybe these State prosecutors didn’t have it in their power to compel that?) but she’ll be on the record now, so any testimony in the Georgia prosecutions may be admissible as evidence in the Federal case.
