It’s generally a good idea to regulate a dog’s diet even if they “self feed” well.

Why the fuss? That’s a normal size dog. Anything under 50 lbs ain’t even a dog.
(I grew up with Great Danes and Dane mixes).

he’s ONE? his poor mother! does he have siblings? how big was he when he was born? how is his human going to afford feeding him? will they be able to keep him in the yard, or will they need to rent space in a pasture somewhere? i have so many questions.

This gives me a great idea for a single-panel comic strip, where every time the whole joke can be “that’s one big dog,” with occasional ventures into how the owners’ inability to control him results in further hilarity… Maybe a long, old-fashioned name, something starting with “M.”
