I’m sure they did not remember to exempt the bible, but would make an ad hoc exception and cry about being persecuted if it came up. Fascist laws are always for other people.

Quite possibly not but still it would certainly include books for young people coming to terms with their sex/gender. One of the important things a library can do is provide helpful literature that doesn’t show up on a browser history, or a safe browsing experience. Or numbers on the wall. Contact addresses. They are safe places for ideas and young people come to libraries when they don’t know where else to go.
Which they can’t have of course. Young people can’t be allowed think for themselves. They must obey in thought and deed.

If it’s the same legislation I’ve seen recently, it just says depictions of sex or gender. Not sexual activity (that’s covered in other clauses), not sexual identities other than cisheteronormative: all sexual identities and all gender identities.
Which would, technically, ban pronouns. Because “he” and “she” depict sex and gender. It would ban pictures of any gendered clothing, regardless of who’s wearing it. It would ban medical texts, it would ban “where did I come from?” books. It would ban the Babysitters Club and the Hardy Boys. It would ban Ms Pacman. (But not Pacman, because with Ms Pacman gone, Pacman is no longer male by contrast.)
Of course they’re not going to do that. What they want is a law which is broad enough that they can, where they must, choose where to apply it. And it will be applied to everything they don’t like. Expect depictions of Black and Latinx and First Nations people to be banned for “unlawful depictions of sexual identity”. Expect books on civil rights to be banned, and religions other than Christianity.
