And so I suppose, a perfect fit among Bobert, Gaetz, Empty G and Co.

The Mount Rushmore Protection Act would prohibit the use of federal funds to change, destroy or rename the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The bill from Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., is a response to criticism that has grown since former President Donald Trump visited the site in 2020.
It bears noting that the only time a prominent elected official has floated an apparently-serious proposal to alter Mount Rushmore in recent years was when Trump himself inquired about how to get his own face added to the site.

House Republicans passed a bill that would repeal IRS funding increases from the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). They will also vote on a bill that would dismantle the IRS, repeal all income taxes, and replace them with a national sales tax.
118th aka Stunt Congress
To no one’s great surprise, the main impact of this (DOA) proposal would be to absolutely hammer the poor, increasing their grocery and other bills 30% overnight while eliminating a good bit of the support they have received. The tax cut will not be seen by them, since their income tax exposure is minimal, lacking, as they do, income. For the wealthy, this would be a HUGE windfall, as, of course, pretty much every motion by the fascists is. That “registering with the government” part is terrifying as fuck, I gotta tell you. Needless to say, the Senate and President will never let this see the light of day, but it is a signpost of where the idiot right would like to take us. One we ignore at our very dire peril.
But… I thought it was the Republicans that cared oh so much about the rising cost of goods! Are you telling me that it was all bullshit?!? /s
Yeah… Just, WTAF! The party of freedom and small government my ASS…
I believe there are plenty of people who would love to see 's head atop Mount Rushmore, in a very specific way.
But… but… they’re the party of fiscal responsibility! WE know that because they want to cut entitlements and cut taxes!!! /s
I can’t say how furious it makes me that there are STILL people that buy the idea that the GOP is more fiscally responsible when they are objectively, CLEARLY not that.
Has been true for decades, and has become more and more extreme over time. And yet, they seem to hold that “fiscal responsibility” title. I have no idea how anyone still buys that shit.
ETA: Being a visual person and all
It’s almost like objective reality and what GQP voters believe are somehow… not… the same. Like, opposite… somehow.
Even with their own lived experiences, those voters are choosing to believe as they instructed to the bizarre GQP narratives rather than the voters’ Own Lyin’ Eyes (and Ears)™.
They push tax cuts and entitlement cuts, and I guess some people can’t figure out that to have an actual country with services, we need tax revenues to pay for it… Some of it is that people would cut off their own noses if it hurts the people they fear and hate, but some of it is probably that they buy into the idea that the private sector can “do it better”…
Ideology is a hell of a drug!
Also… gerrymandering keeps the GOP far more radical than it should be. Many people running for congress never have to moderate their views.
You know, I’m of the opinion that most of it comes from them pushing that narrative from when the foaming at the mouth fascists were only a glimmer in the Koch family’s eyes. people saw that what they said and did was tru-ish, at least if you didn’t spend the time really reearching the subject. I think it’s going to be one of those things many USians just don’t often see until it’s pointed out, like white supremacy (fish, water, etc)
